For whatever reason, he's lost the plot this season.

Selections, match ups, game style, structures are more than questionable this year, they're an absolute joke.

Sometimes you have to live by the old KISS rule, keep it simple stupid, not continue to try and out fox your opponent by being stubborn in your ways.

What's up with bringing in players from the Magpies with no form?

Have the balls to admit you've f**ked things up and change your ways, cause this season has been pathetic in nearly every way.

Buy a mirror and have a long, hard look into it pal.

As stubborn as Choco.

At least Primus tried stuff, stupid stuff, reactive stuff, but it was something.

He defends every question with "I've spent a lot of time in footy"

Kens biggest downfall is himself and his attitude at times. He is a good astute coach, but a stubborn man. That won't cut it in this industry.

**** off then to somewhere else.

Shit thread.

What a ridiculous thread.

I can't believe how much some of our supporters seemed to have gotten ahead of themselves.
Too many people think that the improvement will just continue, whereas every good afl team goes through some ups and downs on their way up.

Hinkley's made some mistakes, yes, but what coach hasn't.

The real test will be to see how we bounce back from here.

I think the thread is warranted. You don't go from where we were last year to the flat track rubble we are now without something seriously wrong. Hinkley is the coach, it starts and ends with him.

Pre-season was a joke. Hinkley also got sucked into the Burgess mantra of developing players only to see how far they can be pushed in terms of endurance running and that has come at the expense of football conditioning and strength. Seeing Lobbe get pushed around by Walker tonight nearly made me cry.

Hinkleys stubbornness in selections has hurt us on a few occasions so far this year. He coaches now to win the contest in the box - arrogance. His gamestyle - while preaching brave attacking footy - is Mick Malthouse like. Get the ball, kick to the boundary.

I think both Hinkley and Burgess need to come under scrutiny, if not we'll drift along for another 2-3 years with everyone scared to say anything much like Choco's last few years.

There's much not working at present and Hinkley doesn't seem to know, or be willing to do much about it.

Bounce back from here?

What, like the loss against West Coast, or Brisbane and Richmond.

Can't wait to "smash" Carlton next week.

It's not Hinkleys fault that the average joe doesn't understand structure.

We build these shitty makeshift forward lines because we don't have anyone who can lead/mark/goal. When we have players that can give us a marking option instead of standing stagnant or looking for a loose ball over the back to run on to we can start to challenge for a flag.

Chocco, Rhode and co. stuffed our list for 10 years. Wait till Harvey, Palmer, Howard start getting games and then see what happens.

I am talking long term. Not just next week. Not just this season.

There's no point being reactionary based on some bad losses this year. We've been found out in some areas - identify the weaknesses, work on them.

I still think Hinkley and this main group can challenge for the flag.

I don't think an individual coach makes a difference except for motivation. Ken misses Walsh. Ken misses not having Voss. He needs better people with him in the coaches box. The players are trying so its not like they have lost faith in him. We are Port Adelaide and we back our coaches. From 1950 to 2010 the club had 5 coaches, 4 if you consider that Motley only took over due to Fos's exhaustion at the end of 1958. A strong club needs a coach to know he is backed to the hilt, free to experiment, push the boundaries and make mistakes.

Unaccountable possession football is dishonest football. Thats what we got with Choco and Primus.
Slingshot football is dishonest football. That is Kens preferred game plan.
Not playing a proper forward line against 3 true KPDs who have around 700 games on football is just stupid selection. Then throw in Enright and Mackie and you have another 500 games to contend with. Sam Gray is supposed to beat Enright?
Not recruiting enough KPFs who can play at AFL level ie you keep adding them each year, has been dumb recruiting.

The other teams have found us out and when the current players regularly have kicking efficiency of 53% then just about any game plan is useless.

Ken is on a journey just as much as the players. He will have to make some tough decisions soon though. This for me will tell me if he will make it or not. We will find alot out about hinkley and this group this year. The rollercoaster continues.

He's basically hoping we click with plan A so well that it doesn't matter if teams go defensive against us.

That may happen eventually, but while we're waiting for that to happen we're going to lose a lot of games because we don't try something different.

Slingshot is not necessarily dishonest. When you run hard both ways it can be bloody good football, a la last year.
Agree with other points though.

Well gee, how the **** did Schulz kick 40 goals in 2012, 50 goals in 2013, and 60 goals in 2014? He leads, he marks, and he kicks straight more often than not.

Also, more often than not, those leads are to the wing or half back flank because playing him out of FF is too crazy for Ken.

What is Westhoff up to is a more important question.
