JA nominates for the Pre-Season Draft

Its cant be, GC, Ess, Melb and Carlton all have picks before Fremantle and I doubt Fremantle will be dumb enough to get Jack to put a huge price on himself to scare clubs off becuase they will be getting ripped of then. My bet is he will go to Essendon as he will train with them and they are interested in him but I hope he goes to the GC becuase of the compensation pick.

I posted this earlier but after hearing his manager on SEN yesterday i think its just about a done deal.

you didnt miss out on the pick, you got yours for Fraser as the uncontracted player. Also the fact that he is intending to go to Freo means your argument about GC telling players to nominate means nothing since he isnt going to GC.

It is not my argument you said we would get nothing if he went to GC which is incorrect, the rules mean we do. If GC decide they are interested and take him we will get a pick. You get compensation for any uncontracted player GC takes. I suggest you go and read up on Brennan's move to the GC and the compensation paid.

If he goes elsewhere we get nothing which IMO is his market value.

F**king over Freo, is considered a national sport in some parts
Yes but if freo's footy department had a backbone or were smarter (depending which issue it was) they would have realised they never had to agree to any of the trades in the first place

Useless whining after you accepted the deal, you consented to the damn thing

You only hear Freo supporters complaining, and now more than before as they showed a bit last season and now feel they earnt the right I think.
Freo, the club, are responsible for their bit in negotiating the various trades and seem happy enough.
Every bit of perceived inequality in a trade always seems to come down to Collingwood being the bad guy and Freo being dudded. When will Freo supporters start blaming their own club if they are not happy?

Funny because I had the feeling Freo may have asked JA during trade week, what sort of interest he'd had and maybe asked him to go to the PSD where they would be able to get him for nothing, instead of the inclusion somehow in the Taz deal, hence the lateness of the Taz deal etc.

Classic if that is the case and someone else picks him up. As quoted by Scott Clayton, they have the no.1 pick in the PSD, they can't take John Anthony without our permission, but if we gave it, we'd get compensation. AS if we won't give the go ahead. Minimum compo is 3rd pick round. If he nominates a 3rd year deal and some OK $$ to try and get to Freo, as appears an agreement is in place, and the Suns take him we could even snare a 2nd rounder which would be an unbelievable result for us now, considering where we stand at this point.

C'mon Scotty Clayton, he's better then Nathan Ablett and Josh Fraser as a key forward and you don't want to throw all your young talls to the wolves just yet.

sounds like he and his manager think Freo is a done deal, but Scotty Calyton has other ideas.

I'm a big fan of him coming to the GC, a compensation pick would be a steal given we were facing losing him for nothing. It would be absolutely crazy of us to not give GC our blessing to take him in the PSD!

Coz im sure they would care whether they had your blessing or not

Yes they would, GC already taken one of our uncontracted players, to take another one they need permission.
Try thinking next time before you post.

I heard this too, but I am reliably informed from another poster on here that it is not true, still the chorus that it happened is loud and strong, I can tell you

Well ill cop getting rolled if im wrong, but i was told that as of October 31, GC could take any player from the drafts, whos had been previsouly listed, and not have to seek permission if they had already listed a player from that club.
From todays Age -
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/clubs-lining-up-for-anthony-20101108-17ki4.html
... Suns recruiting guru Scott Clayton last night said the new franchise would more than likely activate one pick but would not speculate on any interest in Anthony. At age 22 and with the ability to fill a key position, Anthony could be a good fit for a club seeking hardened bodies.

The Magpies would have to agree to allow Anthony to join the Suns, as they have already lost one player to the league's 17th franchise - Josh Fraser. But, if Anthony was to head north, Clayton said the premiers would benefit as they would receive a compensation pick, something that would not be forthcoming should Anthony link with the Blues, Dockers or Demons. ...

Awesome, let's get Jack to the Gold Coast, it's the only way we get anything for him, and it's not like they are a threat to us in the next few seasons.

If I was Collingwood, I would be suggesting to Jack to "do both himself and the club a favour" and go to the GC.

Out of interest, what do you think the compo pick would be?

3rd round would be my guess, better then nothing, and about what Jack is worth anyway IMO.

Jack to the GC, make it happen.

How does he do this exactly? He gets chosen by whoever chooses him.
He enters the PSD only, where GC have the first pick, simple really.

All he has to do is bypass the National Draft (I don't think he even signed up for it anyway).

He was always going to enter the PSD and ignore the ND. He can't control the club he goes to now.
Well, technically he can't control which club he goes to, but with GC having the first pick in the PSD, if he wants to go there, it's pretty easy to get him there, and because they have taken Josh already, we get a compo pick, if they use that draft pick on him.

if they want him, thats where he goes.

Not like he can price himself out of the GC's reaches!

Good **** him, traitor, arrogant beech.

Had a sook when he could'nt go to Vegas the weekend we won the GF, he aint one of us, never was.. **** off to carlton, would be a good fit.

Did we delist him today?

Just asking, because there's a video of Geoff Walsh (on CTV) talking about our second list lodgement that was due today at 2pm (today?) and he states that if we didn't delist Anthony today, and he still leaves us, that we can't use the "Jack Anthony" spot on the list in the national draft.

So, does anyone know what happened in regards to this?

Delisted.....we now have 5 picks to use in the NAB draft, 45/46/61/78/79.
