So I am guessing the plan would be that we take only one pick at the ND, the other two picks upgrade rookies. And we take pretty much a full rookie draft PO?

With three trade ins we only have room for 1 draft pick anyway (6 off senior list, 2 rookie elevate + 3 trades) or 2 if we delist simpson or trade sav. So we are basically only using 7 (if we keep it) and 38 and all our later picks are either going in the henry/bruhn/bowes trades or into 2023 picks-we dont have the list spots to use them. Mackie confirmed yesterday we wont have more than 2 picks in the nd and probably 3 rookie picks (plus clohesy if we cat b him).

Well that’s the thing mate, they aren’t made public, if you can’t smell something funny going on at Geelong that’s fine, you’re even taking on others salary now along with being linked to 75% of the available players this year, and last, and the year before that……
Yeah, but this is still basically saying "I don't have any solid reason why another club is successful therefore they're cheating"

Huge for Geelong,

Brisbane would be really pissed to miss out on this. Can't see them getting all of the Dunkley and F/S deals done now.

Possibly because we don't wildly overpay our players if they stamp their feet.

We will probably be back on this board in a few years when the Pies are trying to offload Darcy Moore and JDG mega salaries.

I get the salary dump, but none of this makes sense to me. Pick 7 feels like such an over the top addition to the trade, even if something like 18 went back the other way. Bowes is actually a good player in his own right, as recently as 2021.

This would be a great coup by Geelong if they can get GC to sign it off before they come to their senses imo.

Now the hard part for bowes...up rooting his life and finding a place of residence in a tough real estate market.

Is there a prevelmet builder down that way that would assist his search ?

GC is much tougher real estate market than down Geelong way FYI. GC is mental, and they have sharks in the canals.

There is no GM of football and Gil is on his way out. Who would even make the decision ?

If they wanted to block it they would have told Gold Coast to not give pick 7 to Geelong.
But why should we be punished merely for being better run than other clubs. Especially the selling club Gold Coast??
We chose to prefer older players in pursuit of success contrary to conventional wisdom of a long arduous rebuild process. Managed to keep the list and cap in check in the meantime and now want to pursue good young players like everyone else. Why shouldn't we be allowed to?

Not like any rule was broken in pursuit of our goals, and no one minded that path between 2016-21 when we repeatedly shit the bed with an aging list.

Reading between the lines, GCS are stuffed if they don't trade him. They must be very close to the max cap and need to get that down to resign the players they want to keep.

It is November 1st, first day of pre-season, Jack Bowes walks into Kardinia Park.

Bowes: Hello, I’m Jack, I’m from GCS, and here for my first day.

GFC: Who are you and where is pick 7?
Best!
