Guys, it's Friday. Can't we all just have a cuddle, drink some beer and eat Macca's together? 🥰
Can it wait until 6.00pm tonight so I can walk into the place without a face nappy, be served by someone without a mask and be able to sit or stand depending on what I choose to do because if it happens at 5.59pm there's more risk apparently.

Wait, what? Have I missed something? Do restrictions change tonight??

When you're gasping in the ICU, the doctor will be saying "you made your choices, fat boy!"

*I know you're not fat

I really don't see the issue. The rule is he needs to be vaccinated (whether you agree with it or not). He isn't. We should put him on the inactive list on reduced salary and decide what to do when we know what is going on and the heat dies down. The only complicating factor is Jack's reported behaviour which, if true, may have burnt bridges and would be highly unprofessional/ a dereliction of basic job requirements (i.e. to respond to communications). None of us know for sure the ins an outs of that but it seems somewhat likely to be true given the smoke around the issue. Regardless, when the deadline is reached (for needing to put him on the inactive list so we can take a replacement player), we should do so. We can decide the rest later.

Edit: I will say, the club knows more so they may choose to take more drastic actions based on what has happened. But that will be for them to work out based on what has happened and when they deem appropriate.

There are a lot of fat unhealthy slobs up on their high horses atm about being vaccinated. Like getting a vaccine absolves you of a life of drinking beers , smoking and eating maccas to excess.

Omicron is going through our community just like all others even though we are the most vaccinated and boosted place on earth when omicron has had an outbreak.

The vaccine is not stopping the spread

Except for Delta...

Oh wait, delta isn't a threat?

Yeah... because people are vaccinated.

What this pandemic has shown is that a lot of people a lacking empathy for people making personal choices not matter how we view their decisions.

Calling it a 'personal choice' is inane. Of course it's a personal choice... all choices are ultimately personal. It doesn't justify the choice... it doesn't make it a good choice... it doesn't make it an informed and intelligent choice. What you're basically saying is that we should empathise with Darling for making a choice that 95% of the Australian population wouldn't make... and only 2 other AFL players were prepared to make. A choice that goes against all expert opinion. And a choice that has been shown (by the AFL rejection of his application) to have no medical basis.

I'm willing to empathise with Darling if someone... anyone... could provide something approaching a plausible explanation behind it that DOESN'T involve conspiracy theories and 'doing your own research' on Facebook.

So...that would mean that Darling has indeed gone the legal route to save his job? So Simmo and Nisbett dropping in for a beer and chat to sort it out seems unlikely then?
Getting a legal opinion would be advisable.
IF you dont get the opinion you need, get another opinion - even if its from Cairns .... as Peter Kimpton is.
There is a big leap from an opinion to legal action & a player manager is in that space.

You probably don't know this but your body is likely hosting a whole bunch of viruses right now. You're just not sick from them because vaccination has been a thing for nearly 100 years, so we've built up immunity...

The only reason we are 95% is that people were threatened to be sacked if they didn't.

Its not a true indication of peoples feelings on the matter
In the past, we would not have had to threaten people, because it seems people were less self-indulgent, arrogant and full of their own self-knowledge than they are now. If polio was around now, you'd be arguing for the right of people to choose an iron lung. Times change, cest la vie.

I think the question we should all be asking is if JD is unvaccinated, will he transfer the Covid virus any differently to any player, club official, or AFL player, compared to a vaccinated player that is infected with the virus? The answer is clearly no.
It wouldn’t matter if it was Nic Nat off for a week with Covid or JD off with a week with Covid, both players could transfer the virus if infected.
JD doesn’t want to get vaccinated, who gives a fu**, let him play.
It’s a sh*t rule.
That's a lot of words to say you don't understand viruses and vaccinations. Simple answer is, yes, vaccinations reduce the likelihood of being symptomatic and transmitting the virus. So Darling would be more likely to transmit the virus than NN, and whoever he transmits it to might be healthy and fine, but they may go home and transmit it to someone who will not be.

Vaccinations are the ultimate social obligation and what it has shown us is the where the most selfish people sit.

Annual flu vax is well established, 65% effectiveness for the following winter (Peter Doherty?) - what is the effective life of covid vaccines ?
