Not worth it for the risk. Why not 24?
And saints pay half the contract. 800k for a bloke that’s struggling on and off the field is ridiculous money.i think it will be pick 37 or cats just walk, cant see them pushing too hard for him
Geelong should trade 24 for high 20s/early 30s pick then get a 2nd rd pick upgrade next year. Then on trade that pick to St KildaIf I'm reading it right Saints want a pick in the 20s and Geelong is only prepared to offer mid 30s..
Personally I'm happy with 30s pick but get why the club would aim higher
Or better, just take 24 to the draft or bundle it with another to move higher in the draft, and take Steven as UFA next year.Geelong should trade 24 for high 20s/early 30s pick then get a 2nd rd pick upgrade next year. Then on trade that pick to St Kilda
For free you say? Like how TK is going to West Coast for free?
Geelong fans do make me laugh.

I am constantly amazed at how few people on BF seem to understand how trading and FA work. You do understand how UFA works?? There is no matching and forcing to trade. They walk. So yes you get nothing from us and just AFL comp

You are aware that St Kilda does not need cap space we front end contracts just to get to the 95% floor. With yet another Mid level player asking for a trade to the saints they need the cap space and the picks I’m sure. I wouldn’t be budging one bit.
Cause I don’t think they are that keen, he apparently contacted them. I think they’d take him but isn’t the end of the world if they don’t get him.Why not 24?
Probably equally fair to say you've likely front ended Jack's contract too and there wouldn't be much to pay out. I'm just guessing but I think maybe the lower coin offered by the cats might just be matching his remaining contract. Ironically similar to the Brad Hill contractYou are aware that St Kilda does not need cap space we front end contracts just to get to the 95% floor.
But the stevens were also called stevo.Let's just call him Stevo, to get rid of all the 'STEVENS' people.
Dont need the cap spaceWith yet another Mid level player asking for a trade to the saints they need the cap space and the picks I’m sure. I wouldn’t be budging one bit.
Do it and move on
Dont need the cap space
Seems to me, 2020 could well be Geelong's final tilt at a flag for a while. This year at various times Geelong still relied heavily on Selwood, Hawkins and Ablett to get them over the line. At least two, if not all three, will retire at the end of next year.
Stevens at least partially covers the loss of Kelly in the short term.
I feel like St Kilda hold some pretty decent cards here.
So from what I understand Geelong is walking away from this trade, the Saints want more than Geelong can afford. I personally think it's best for all parties involved except for maybe Jack himself but he has the option to retire or play another year for the Saints and then doing what he likes.
Saints fans would you be happy if you retained Steven?
Fixed that up for youWould absolutely be happy to keep him!
For another 15 games before he exercises his free agent status and we miss out on ZJones or Dougall bc we didn’t have a pick before 60
