There's as big a difference between trading a late first rounder (18), a second to first rounder pick upgrade (24 traded for 19) and Savage vs trading pick 5 as there is in trading for an contracted player vs an uncontracted player.

What 'experts'? Pick 5 is overs
Leigh Matthews, Buckenara, Carey just to name 3 experts saying pick 5 is fair. But Ameet knows more than these guys?

Leigh Matthews - said Carlisle was worth Pick 5, "IF YOU WANTED HIM". That is like saying a BMW is worth $120,000 if it makes you happy. It is a value statement, not a statement of worth. Saints want Carlisle but IF they want pick 5 more than Carlisle then Carlisle is not worth Pick 5 to the Saints.
Buckenara - said Saints should swap pick 5 for Carlisle.
Wayne Carey - Carey is a mate of Carlisle's. In June 2015 he said the big problem with Carlisle is that the gap between his best and worst is too large and there is not enough of his best. He will not be a great player until he addresses this. He said he needs to harden up. I can't find what Carey has said about Carlisle recently but I also can't see what has happened between June 2015 and today that would make Carey shift his ground so much. From what I know Carlisle has not been in good form in 2015?

Got some news for you. You don't get to do anything with him until he is off our list. So just sit back and wait to see what we do with him.
Not sure why you Saint supporters are so sure a QLD team wouldn't pick him.
Also reports around this morning that Essendon have 2 better offers than pick 5.

They can have better offers but he can still walk to PSD with a price on his head. Which means you get nothing regardless of whether we get him or not.

Of course but this thread is full of Saints supporters who feel that if he goes to the PSD he's automatically yours.
Many Essendon supporters are quite happy to get nothing for him rather tan take an unfair offer.

Not necessarily as maybe they are great offers from good clubs who are legit challenges and he might be interested in going there and his manager still get's his % so doesn't care either way.
Also it helps us in mediation if he sticks to his guns and will only go to the Saints.

Not automatically. I'm not sure what the other 4 clubs salary caps are like but we have plenty of play money. Also, if Brissy will follow through with the "not trading Aish" stance that helps our cause aswell.

Quality KPP at 24 years of age don't come on the market every year. Inevitable clubs wouldn't just sit by and let the Saints try to steal him...
We aren't SURE, but the risk becomes easier to take as the price of dealing with Essendon becomes higher.

Mediation or not, if StKilda and Carlisle decide to go to the draft, there is nothing you can do to stop it. Mediation will not prevent them making this decision.

The difference is we acknowledge he may not get to the Saints, many of you don't. We are resigned to the fact we may get nothing for him.
