Well they recieve something better seeing as 17/20/21 is lower than your 2nd rounder? Essendon get their middle first round pick that they have stated is his worth and its in a better draft in which youve complained about for 100 pages makes 5 into 7 in a weak draft. Its a win for stkilda because they get a better deal than offered by essendon, its just that you essendon flogs cry every time a scenario doesnt have 5 coming to you.
except we aren't the ones offering a deal, that's for the saints to do.
but yes, we flogs cry.
I doubt that the Saints would go for the PSD option without serious cause to do so (e.g Essendon not wavering AT ALL from the demand for pick 5), and Carlisle has said he wouldn't (but, who knows how concrete he is on that, if push comes to shove).

In Emma Quayle's recent publication, it was noted how St Kilda were prepared to take Membrey in the PSD if Sydney did not delist him and allow us to take him as a delisted free agent. So, it's not an absurd prospect, but perhaps may be different in the case of Carlisle for a few reasons, be it that he would not agree to such a thing (like i mentioned above) or perhaps the Saints realised the Membrey was worth peanuts in a trade anyway, so taking him in the PSD isn't a big deal, whilst taking Carlisle would be a huge and unacceptable shafting.
the demand for 5 is coming because that is ALL the saints have that is remotely close to his value. Yes it's over, but anything else on offer is far more unders, and we aren't the ones pursuing a player.
Our ability to waiver from the demand is seriously impeded by the fact the saints have nothing else to offer.

As I've said earlier, 9 & 13 from the Crows won't be easy to get. 5 is good for them to get close to Francis, but there are inklings he will be our 1st pick if Gold Coast don't snap him up.
So the Crows could be weighing up losing 2 top 13 picks for 1 and still not landing who they are after. Massive gamble for them
Plus, the saints have gone in for Freeman (2nd rd price), Carlisle (1st rd price) and now have Rice to bid for (potential 2nd rd pick).

Facts:

Stkilda will get Carlisle

It would be highly unlikely they run the so many risk of PSD and even bother entertaining that option

The bombers originally seeked about Billings then in their dropped the offer to pick 5. They have again moved on their requirement now saying they will take pick 9 if the saints can get it (From Woosha today on radio).

Saints are yet to even table an offer (acc Woosha on radio) however its considered by some (mainly BF saint fans) that Hickey and 24 has been tabled.

Bombers will see it worth pushing him to the PSD if the saints continue to be unreasonable even if it means getting nothing instead of the 29th best kid in a weak draft pool, to make a stand for not losing much in their view.
So it was billings last week by the end of the week it was pick 5 and now its pick 9. What a trend. By the end of next week it will be a 2nd rounder and we can all live happily ever after....

We offered second round pick and Essendon said they wanted pick 5 everyone walked away.
The problem with dodo is he immediately goes to media with stupid remarks no other recruiter operates
that way always the commentary goes we are seeking the best deal from all the clubs is the standard line
from all of them except one this is why he is disliked so much in football circles.
If no one else goes to the media, how do you know this last part?
Dodoro answers questions honestly.
Im puzzled how coming in with a low ball offer = Bains - no problems here,
Essendon ask for the 1st rounder Carlisle is worth = Dodoro - always the problem

Here's a thought. Next time the Saints put a trade strategy together, work out the picks the players are worth, check the picks held, and evaluate whether you are prepared to give them up for the players being chased.

Why would they waste time on ambit claims like Billings or Pick 5.
Just pure floggery. Dodoro is an A grade f*ckwit and everyone knows it.

I know if Sydney was in this position they would gladly give up pick 5 for Carlisle.

Well i would.
Thank God you're not anyone's list manager.

How is he worth pick 5?

His best season was 2 seasons ago, he's had a bad history with injuries, he's out of contract, and he's requested a trade. And let's not forget, the WADA cloud is still hanging over his head.

On top of that, has he been All-Australian? No. Has he won a B&F? No. and has he even come close to winning one? No. He didn't even finish top 10 in the Bombers' B&F this year.

It's clearly ridiculous that Dudoro is asking for pick 5... and it baffles me how some of you agree with the trade.

Honestly, he's a 2nd rounder at best as of now, because of the situation and the circumstances he's in.

I'd say they've already done that

And asking for pick 5 is trading in good faith?

Might be waiting a while for billings

Why would other players care?

Is that why the dons being difficult to trade with havent got anyone of note in a while?
we've pursued Gaff, Boak, Mundy and Caddy of late, outside of free agents.
3 stayed at their club. GCS stuck their heals in over Hurley over Hooker for Caddy (before taking much less).

Chapman, Cooney, Gwilt, McKernan, Giles all came cheap.
Goddard was a good get. Would have been far better had we not screwed up in 2012.

Asking for pick 5 is all we can ask for.
Saints have nothing else to offer. Until such time that you do, the price is 5, not 24 (with or without Hickey)

lol, I love how the Saints fans here think they'll walk away from Carlisle.

You've thrown him $700k a year, interviewed him four times, taken him on a tour of Seaford. He'll be at the Saints next year in a trade.

He's worth a top 10 pick. It's not Essendon's job to get that done. He won't be going to the PSD and he WILL be at St.Kilda next year.

Pay up.

Opposition supporter who knows what he's talking about :)

yet the Saints are offering him 700-800k a year and Richardson seems to think he is a great player.....2nd rounder?
doesn't quite marry up does it.

Let's put it another way forget this year ..
There is a reason that Essendon under the current guy have the lowest amount of deals over the years.
Do you hear Wright at Hawthorn ,Wells at Geelong , Taylor at Melbourne ,or any other head recruiter other than
One run commentary on human beings thru the media .
It's a well known in the industry that is a fact

Good to see that we're are the only ones moving. We will not accept the 2nd saint fans need to get past that.

Dodoro isnt disliked in football circles.

All recruiters/clubs operate that way. Look at yourselves.

So your come back is you almost got a player of note but hey see these old blokes we have that no one wants?

You can say pick 5 all you like its not going to make it happen

Just turned 24 so he has 6-7 years left i watched him produce in the space of 2-3 weeks some of the best football i have seen last year when he kicked 8 against the Bulldogs and then backed it up the following week and destroyed Collingwood with 20 marks and 4 goals.

He was clearly effected by the Thompson situation and the ongoings of Essendon.

Bad run of injuries? last 4 years has played 17,19,21,18 games.

Yes the WADA situation decreases his value but from pick 5 to a second rounder? thats a mighty chasm.

Essendon are not the ones being unreasonable here.

Reminds me of the days when Kyle Reimers kicked a bag of 8 goals once...

It's a well known in the industry that is a fact
our current guy has managed our list quite well given what he has control over
we've lost no one to free agency.
Ryder turned into Langford
Crameri into Merrett
Monfries into Gleeson
Gumbleton into Fantasia
Houli into Hibberd

Outside of Free Agency and Expansion recruiting, tell me who of note have the hawks traded that weren't going to be discarded or marginalised.
Show me the starting 22 player and arguably top 10 talent that any of the above clubs had to trade away and show how much they are great guys
Wells, Wright and Taylor have done awesome to jettison what they don't need and use free agency and give up early picks to get what they want
Dangerfield for a 1st and 2nd.
McEvoy for a late 1st
Tyson and 9 for 2 and 20
Caddy for a 1st and 3rd
Dawes for a 1st

This will be our 3rd top 10 player that walks.
Asking for 1st rd compensation is fair. That the saints came into this only holding pick 5 in the first rd should have prepared them that this would be the asking price
