except we aren't the ones offering a deal, that's for the saints to do.Well they recieve something better seeing as 17/20/21 is lower than your 2nd rounder? Essendon get their middle first round pick that they have stated is his worth and its in a better draft in which youve complained about for 100 pages makes 5 into 7 in a weak draft. Its a win for stkilda because they get a better deal than offered by essendon, its just that you essendon flogs cry every time a scenario doesnt have 5 coming to you.
but yes, we flogs cry.
the demand for 5 is coming because that is ALL the saints have that is remotely close to his value. Yes it's over, but anything else on offer is far more unders, and we aren't the ones pursuing a player.I doubt that the Saints would go for the PSD option without serious cause to do so (e.g Essendon not wavering AT ALL from the demand for pick 5), and Carlisle has said he wouldn't (but, who knows how concrete he is on that, if push comes to shove).
In Emma Quayle's recent publication, it was noted how St Kilda were prepared to take Membrey in the PSD if Sydney did not delist him and allow us to take him as a delisted free agent. So, it's not an absurd prospect, but perhaps may be different in the case of Carlisle for a few reasons, be it that he would not agree to such a thing (like i mentioned above) or perhaps the Saints realised the Membrey was worth peanuts in a trade anyway, so taking him in the PSD isn't a big deal, whilst taking Carlisle would be a huge and unacceptable shafting.
Our ability to waiver from the demand is seriously impeded by the fact the saints have nothing else to offer.
As I've said earlier, 9 & 13 from the Crows won't be easy to get. 5 is good for them to get close to Francis, but there are inklings he will be our 1st pick if Gold Coast don't snap him up.
So the Crows could be weighing up losing 2 top 13 picks for 1 and still not landing who they are after. Massive gamble for them
Plus, the saints have gone in for Freeman (2nd rd price), Carlisle (1st rd price) and now have Rice to bid for (potential 2nd rd pick).
