I don’t think mitochondria have religious or ethnic affiliations 🤔 the mitochondrial line would be older than Abrahamic religion generally

100% agree that DNA has nothing to do with religion. Seems weird that some people want colonise another people to build an ethno state based on their religion though.

A host of Bombers linked NGA boys played in Cannons rousing win over Murray (59 - 70)

Foley with 16 disposals (15k, 3m 4t, 8 R50,
Rode (15d, 11k, 4m, 3 I50, 3 R50)
Kakko (11d, 5k, 6hb, 6t, 2 goals)
Egan (7d, 7t, 3 goals)

Also got our first glimpse of brother of Josh, 17 year old Ryan Eyre (19.3.05) but finished with one kick.

Allesio is holding place at the moment and Whitehall well held (Lance’s boy - Carlton F/S).

For context
2021
90 combine invites
65 total draft picks used

2020: no league wide combine (state based testing)

2019
79 combine invites
65 total draft picks used.

It goes without saying that not all players drafted went to the combine.

All that to say that just because Munkara is invited to the draft combine, it doesn't guarantee that he is a top 40 pick in the eyes of rectruiters.

If anything, I imagine considering recruiters have seen so little of him this year, they are trying get whatever glimpse they can as opposed to it pointing to his exact draft status.

Combine invites are sent when players have interest from multiple clubs so the player isn’t retesting with different clubs multiple times. They are more likely to be taken earlier because clubs want to get in before their rival selects the player, especially if they perform well in the drills, interview & medical at the combine.

Hence the top 40 are likely to be invited to the combine, while the last 25 or whatever are more likely to be niche selections, academy kids and such like that have flown below the radar of most clubs. And some combine invitees don’t make it at all of course.

To put it another way, if you’re a draft watcher and you’re all hyped over a kid who doesn’t get invited to the combine, that’s usually a bad sign and means you’ve missed something big (except in the unusual case where you want them to be after pick 40).

But I think the main thing is that he’s on multiple clubs’ radar and he has some amazing athletic traits which he should show at the combine, under the noses of the recruiters who requested him, and also the ones who didn’t. What happens after that depends on the medical and the interview… but the odds aren’t great for us.

A lot of the 2022 models have Wireless Android Auto, which is a nice addition.

The older models were quick off the mark and good in traffic, so hopefully that's still a feature.

Going through some names on the James Hird Academy list from 2024 onwards;

Amin Naim (Strathmore FC)
7 games for the U18's for 22 goals earned him call up to the reserves where he kicked 3. HAs now played 7 games for 11 goals at U18 level for the Cannons as an under ager. Already 187cm, could grow a few more cm into tall forward territory. Still, good size already. One to watch as he has been selected in the U17 Vic Metro squad

Mahamoud Taha (Pascoe Vale FC)
9 goals from 7 games at local level saw Taha elevated to the Cannons senior squad where he has managed a respectable 8 goals from 10 games and 3 mentions in the bests. Also selected in the same Vic Metro U17 futures side that Naim has. At 182cm, he is a decent size already.

Luke Barnard (Essendon Doutta Stars)
9 games in the U18.5's, nothing to write home about. 0 times in best, no goals

Ryan Eyre (Eltham JFC)
Mixed bag for Ryan this year. Played his first game for the Cannons on the weekend, and despite struggling (1 possession), should hold the 17 year old in good stead for his draft year in 2023. Taste of senior football (2 games/4 goals) but has played at U19 level (4 games, 3 goals, 1 time in best) and U17 level (4 games). Already 188cm and Josh thinks his little brother could be better than him.

Noah Caracella (Newtown & Chilwell)
Played 12 games for 12 goals this year for N&C, 5 goals was a reasonable result. Rewarded prior to start of 2022 with selection in the Geelong Falcons U16 squad which should bode well for the next couple of years as he builds to draft eligibility in 2024.

Alex Allesio (Strathmore JFC)
Prexominantly U16 boys, couple of games in the U18.5's.
U16 - 12 games, 1 goal, 3 times in best
U18 - 1 game, 2 goals

Isaac Kako (Pascoe Vale)
"IK" has HUGE WRAPS on him. 58 goals in 11 regular season games and 13 more from 2 grading games suggests this 174cm small forward can play. 8 goals in 3 U18.5 games earned him a second consecutive game for the Cannons on the weekend (3 goals from 2 games). Has earned honours for Vic Metro (6 goals, 3 games) so certainly one to watch.

Alijah Davey (Palmerston FC)
Couldn't find too much on Alijah in 2022 but his 2021 form for Palmerston was same as year before. Played games, couple of times in the bests, couple of goals.

Lucas Ramanauskas (Strathmore FC)
Again, nothing to hugely write home about. 16 games across grading and regular season for 5 goals. 3 times in the bests.

Couldn't be * looking the younger kids up for competition but sure there is enough out there to look up yourself.

Not sold on Munkara. Not hearing great things about his competitiveness and work rate.

Couple that with no actual production, I’m not even sure I’m interested.

For those with long memories his story sounds similar to Zyrus Manson from about 10 years back, country kid who had all the natural talent in the world but struggled to piece it all together and cope with being a professional athlete.
