Can't see that happening, GWS would need to give a decent pick back IMO.Stewart as the steak knives to go with Marchbank to Carlton in exchange for pick 5 sounds about right to me.

Contracted for 2017. Unless he shows rapid improvement and gets a better attitude he's gone in 12 months.Terrible. Will be out of the league in a year or 2 I feel.
Nah you guys will be too busy trying to turn Vickey from a spud to just an average player.Has he nominated Hawthorn yet?
If you're expecting Stewart to come in and perform as the main man in your forward line you're setting yourself up for disappointment. He's a 3rd tall/relief ruck at best.Despite the fact that all three of Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon would give him a great opportunity, the chances would be the greatest at the blues. He would automatically be our main guy up forward given our deficiencies.
Collingwood have Darcy Moore while Essendon have Joe Daniher. Carlton need someone who can potentially fill a void and help ensure that Curnow, McKay an Silvagni develop nicely, rather than have them thrown to the dogs straight away.
We have Levi Casboult who struggles to kick 20 goals in a season and gets beaten by Matthew Wright. His kicking is woeful (I'm aware that Daniher's kicking isn't great but it is better). And he turns on and off too often (a part of it being the midfield's fault). Our backup is Liam Jones and Andrejs Everitt, one can't kick while the other has experienced a massive form slump while showing signs of laziness.
I'm aware Stewart has connections with Collingwood which include history, Gubby, Adams, Treloar and most likely WHE. But there are just as many at Carlton with Silvagni who picked him, along with possible friends in Plowman, Sumner, Lamb, Phillips and Marchbank (most Likely to join), which could help him fit in nicely and find his spot as a regular in an AFL team.
If I were James Stewart, I'd pick Carlton (not being bias). However the only thing that can't be guaranteed is the money and contract he might want, considering that SOS and the blues are not aiming to offer big contracts yet until they deal with the list problems that currently stand.

I'd rank him well above Jesse White.
But then I'd rank several communicable diseases well above Jesse White.
Bit harsh - given that he's played more AFL games than you.
I look forward to a similar point being made on other critical posts of players on this board. OTOH I don't get paid to play for AFL, so there's also that...
Pies apparently have sounded him out and would like to develop him into 2/3rd forward option.
I think Collingwood opted out of taking him as a F&S pick but if Collingwood are interested they would probably have the inside running.

you raised some good points - especially about your forward line. Hopefully the younger Curnow can fill the gap.
Stewart however is not the messiah. He's like his old man - useful mainly as a 3rd tall and back up ruck. If he came to the Pies he'd be a direct replacement for Jesse White.
If Stewart sees himself as the main man, he's deluded and Carlton shouldn't sell this vision to him. If I were the Blues I'd focus more on his value as the 3rd tall (he won't be behind Lobb). That's where his real niche is.
He is and always will be a flanker / 3rd tall.
Well aware of him being the usual third tall, but you need to remember that none of the talls on the Carlton list (excluding Curnow and McKay) are fit to be the our main forward. And considering that no strong forwards are currently available in the trade period for the blues to reach, Stewart is the next best thing (which isn't as bad as what people make him out to be). That is why Carlton are investing anything they could get their hands on for the time being.
He would most likely be the third tall for magpies and bombers, but would lead the way for us. Stewart would be our main tall for a brief period, which could easily see more pain, however will be a small step in the right direction for the team, as it creates a challenge for players to lift their standards and cement their place.
Bringing in Stewart will be the right thing Carlton does, as the trade for Jones we have most certainly lost and Casboult constantly missing every shot on field has only left people laughing. Everitt, who is most likely going to leave, was doing what both Jones and Casboult couldn't, but was not crashing packs instead rather rewarding himself from the hard work of other players.
your issue is you have the 'bones' of a great forward line but its 4-5 years away.
Curnow showed enough to suggest he will be better than stewart. If he's fit I wouldn't be chasing stewart to play in front of him.

Your wrong ...Stewart currently considering what number he wants to wear at pies in 2017. This is as good as done. Will be a very handy mobile tall option with Moore. Shaping as a mobile, potent and unpredictable forward set up at pies next year - Moore, fasolo, Elliott, Mayne, Stewart, hoskin-Elliott, Blair, white, cox
Any tips how it worked for Levi?
"Potent and unpredictable" is a great description of that dog's breakfast plus Fas and Moore.Stewart currently considering what number he wants to wear at pies in 2017. This is as good as done. The Stewart's and Collingwood are all good and pretty sweet in the relationship stakes now is what I got told. His dad was pretty pissed off at Collingwood passing on Stewart. I don't know if that's changed or not, but I don't know that they'd have any inside running at this stage.
