The facts are well understood I think. The concern is with the (moral) legitimacy of the seemingly increasing use of 'soft caps' which undermine the intention of the actual salary cap.

Whether it's Dusty or anyone else, in my view, I find it repugnant in a system designed to deliver equalisation. It makes a mockery of Carlton's sanctions at turn of the millennium and amounts to saying 'brown paper bags of cash are now allowed', just let us 'sign off on it' first.

Given that you don’t know the results of the Brownlow, you’re not in a position to make that call. Coaches rated him below Dusty though, which is pretty funny.
