I can help here this is the sort of thing I treat regularly at work.

The lisfranc joint is actually a series of smaller joints that effectively create one large joint across the middle of the foot. It's essentially like the keystone in anarchway. Most commonly I see this injury it after a car accident.

There is a huge scope of severity for this injury and associated recovery anything from 6weeks to 18 months is possible. It's likely he'll need orthotics permanently(this is fairly inconsequential) he may need more surgery if the foot is still displaying instability during movement. This is obviously more of an issue.

The good thing is our medicos will be assessing the injury 6+ months after the facts. A well trained specialist should be able to ascertain fairly easily and accurately his long term prognosis and also his more immediate need for subsequent treatment. Hope that helps

Personally if he doesn't tack to much into the cost of the deal is be all for it

Lisfranc injuries are bloody dodgy. As are kids requesting trades after being nowhere near a game. You guys wouldn't want to pay too much, surely.

Bryce Gibbs (and steak knives) for Marchbank, Stewart and Pickett?

I'd do it.
I'm with you mal, I think the reward is starting to outstack the risk with that sort of deal.

I'm much more comfortable if we can keep a pick in that top half a dozen. Think the quality falls back a little at that point in this years draft

I've said this before on another thread, I'm a cricketer, did my Lisfranc December last year and there is absolutely no chance I'll be jogging till january, it's an extraordinarily slow injury and has destroyed careers, look at the NFL. They had a lot of issues with Lisfranc's ending careers a while ago so there was some decent research put into the injury. It just cripples you. Dane Swan recently said he's probably only back to 40% of what he was before he did his Lisfranc at the beginning of this season. I don't want to say Pickett wont play next year but I honestly can't see it happening. I think its really 50/50 he never plays again.

Dane Swan's injury was about as severe as they can get, not trying to downplay the significance of this type of injury but they are not all the same.

My guess 5 and 24 for Marchbank, Stewart, Pickett and 15

How about Adelaide trade [player + 13] to GCS for pick 8. They then trade 8 + a swap of thirds for Gibbs.

8 + future second for [Marchbank, Stewart, Pickett and 16]. Tuohy for 23.

Take 5, 16, 23, 24, 42, 50 to the draft.

Buy back into the second round next year (Kruezer, Casboult)

Thanks CB. That paints the picture for us.

You're potentially absolutely right I've treated patients before who we were happy to just get walking painlessly again.

I've also seen small single metatarsal dislocations resolve with out surgery in a month or so. Will come down to the severity and how many associated injured structures there as well. I don't remember the specifics of swans but I think there were some additional complications.

The club will make their assessments and you'll know what they think by the strength of their offer. Very similar to jom, in this scenario the cost of packaging him in is quite low and we are in a position to give him to time to recover. Wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't see action in 2017
Provided of course the long term prognosis is reasonable

Assuming GWS don't bring in anyone other than academy kids and draft picks, GWS need to lose 7 or 8 players this year as the AFL has put the squeeze on their listing requirements.

He's probably been in discussions with GWS' list management team since they got that news.

Yeh that sounds a lot better to me. It'll just depend on how much GWS need 5 to wether or not we can keep it I think. If they really need it then it could work into our hands.

No, it wasn't. My surgeon is actually the surgeon who is on call for GWS and does all their players feet. Swan's was mild, mine was far worse and pickets was in between the two.

Edit: Sorry, can't say swans was mild, poor language choice, it was severe but not as severe as they can be
