“Dad brought me up the Port way and that’s all I’ve ever known from a young age so it’s great to be at Port and living what I’d dreamt.

“To have someone like Dad beside me and helping me is something I’ll cherish. It’s the best thing… and I love him to bits.”

No one will ever remember he played for them. Similar to Buckley playing for Brissy.

If he develops as we hope and he stays fit, theres no reason he couldn't be a 300 game PAFC player, and no one would remember 1 year of development at a wooden Spooner.
I disagree. I would like to say that I don’t and that the media will give the 19year old a break but….

The media won’t let people forget how “North’s were betrayed” - plus the “fleeing a traditional Victoria club” line will come out for the rest of his career. Back in 1993, no one in Queensland cared about AFL.

This is the same that the media likes to forget that Dew and Burgoyne were Port premiership players first.

Meh ... He should and will, wear it as a badge of honour! IMO, it is more accurately described as "teenager stands up to, and defies, pressure form the big Victorian club & Victorian media"

Note: Ok ,,, I exaggerated somewhat by using the word "big"

At least he clarified that his comments were not a dig at his former club.

It is exactly how it works. Boy says he’s homesick. North entertain bids. Boy nominates Port but the Cow offer is much better. North list managers copped enough sh!t as it was doing the deal. If there was a better one, there’s no way the deal to port gets done. Remember he was contracted for another year. They either trade with Adelaide or wait a year.
JHF was never going to Crowland, as they couldn’t offer him the captaincy. Was already promised to Dawson to get him over the line!

He is half right. It was totally pre-planned. Adelaide enquired about JHF. He says he’s staying at North. Adelaide commit all their draft capital and salary cap space to a half forward flanker. Suddenly, with one team in the home market, JHF wants to come home. Deal done. If Adelaide hadn’t committed to Rankine, North would have said They will only take the best bid. A master stroke by Davies and JHF.

But he’s half wrong. It’s not draft tampering- there was no draft involved, you idiot! And all parties to the transaction consented.

He’s right to be p!seed though. His parents bought him a shiny new Matchbox Ferrari and just as he was about to brag about it to the kid next door, the kid next door was getting the keys to a real Ferrari from his parents.

Lot of conjecture, fluff and nonsense imo. It's as simple as 1. Adelaide inquire 2. JHF thinks 'fck that!' (dad is Fabian Francis) - says no thank you. 3. Port enter the market. 4. JHF changes his mind.

Which is also conjecture, and may be fluff and nonsense, but it stands up to a shave from Occam's Razor better than yours.

Which media? The dogshit Vic newpapers or Viccentric TV and radio shows? David Whinechampion Kink? Who gives a flying?

Nah its great practise for him with the media. Future captain in 8 years time, the man has a mouth let him speak. And it annoys Norf.
Let the guy concentrate on footy for a bit. He's had media BS in the past 18 months that exceeds what most footy players deal with in a full career.

My hunch is that the ‘boners are going to attempt to rough him up in our first game against them but it’ll just turn out like Cunnington’s attempt at taking out Butters.

They’re not a hard team by any measure but their supporters go on like they’re peak Geelong.

Our current line-up has a real old school Maggies toughness about it. Cunnington aside, North come across as a bunch of fairies in comparison.

What?

If adelaide did have better draft capital the absolute worst it couldve been wouldve been the choice of going to adelaide or staying out his contract at North

You cant force players to go to clubs

To me i think its more, he conned North into thinking he will stay with them. So North didnt accept Adelaides trade for the number 1 pick in his draft year.

I highly doubt if North accepted the trade, he would end up at the crows, he wouldnt have come to Port this year or at all

I have some sympathy for North because we don't know what JHF told them pre draft. But their supporters can eat a dick.

The fact JHF was a big chance to come home shouldn't of been a surprise to them if they were doing their due dilligence, South Adelaide officials were happy to tell people well before he got drafted.

I suspect they were either incompetent, or knew the risk but couldnt afford the optics of missing out on the best couple players in the draft (Nick Daicos was also out of reach).
