Traded Jed Anderson [traded w/ picks 38 and 40 to NM for picks 15 and 54]

Top 10pick for rubbish VFL player. It's cray cray season.

Anderson is not rubbish but he is a VFL player who has been unable to push his way into the Hawks side. Which in itself isn't easy.

He's contracted so the Hawks won't give him up for loose change.

Hawks on here saying first round pick are kidding themselves. He cost them pick 30 so something around that + or - 5 picks is the ball park.

You lot are still talking like he's a player out of contract who doesn't want to be at his current club at all and is naming a single side as his preferred destination.

He is under contract, doesn't not want to be at Hawthorn but just wants more opportunities, and is being chased by at least a third of the comp presently.

Perfect storm for a bidding war.

But I'll admit I don't know what Hawthorn may be willing to accept for him and whether or not there are other factors that may effect our price. But I also know none of you know what your clubs may be willing to give up for him either.

If we can't get a pick in the top 20 or 25, I wouldn't trade him. He has a year left so maybe he will play more next year and will be keen to stay. Imo fair value is 15 to 20 or a player of that worth
Great assessment IMO

17 clubs willing to pay a late 2nd at most does not magically make him worth a 1st round pick.

So your apart of the bidding process at all 17 clubs?

you don't know whats on offer, but i to would assume its 2nd round picks. What we do know form informed posters (not pretend ones like you) is that hawks are just fishing for offers and wont trade him unless we get something they deem as equal to where they rate him.

sorry to say but that's higher then pick 25, maybe stop clutching at straws, just scoff at the offer and move along instead of whining like a lil......

Actually it was a trade of Gilham and an upgrade of picks for GWS.

Doesn't really matter though, is Kruezer worth pick 1?

Awww someone has taken their sensitive pills this morning.

Fully understand your stance on Jed as i believe we are in a similar position with Aaron Black.

Yet real world says its not the clubs fishing for offers but the players. Jed wants out, Hawks happy to keep him with a year left on his deal.

Off 10 games many clubs would offer a 3rd if uncontracted, on inhouse potential Hawks would want a 1st. Add in the swings and roundabouts the balance will most likely come out at a 2nd or player of similar value.

Will clutch my straws close to my heart for you and maybe we can talk more once the chips have fallen. Will see who was doing the whining at that point :)

For what its worth, i rate Jed and he was and early pick of mine that i hoped we would chase (at the right price). And as with Black would not be surprised at all if he was retained for anything less than a first.

so I would assume no north poster has stated anywhere that the club wont bend over, or are you just contradicting yourself?

and why do you think im being sensitive, just commenting on the subject same as you...

anyway move on you now understand what hawks poster are saying, not one has demanded a 1st, most have suggest the best we might revive is a late 2nd and all have said a deal wont get done if that's the case.

he is contracted, is that fair enough?

Oh i agree totally no obligation at all for the club to accept a substandard offer. Just cant see the first coming some have asked for. He's a solid 2nd round pick, but that may not suit the club sitting on a contract.

Sensitive was only due to you playing the man rather than the ball.

More than happy to debate a potential trade, but not going to throw insults or tell anyone to move along :)

One thing which could bump up Hawthorn's asking price for Anderson is if they use their first round pick for Yarran. Would have them wanting a first rounder to replace it.

"Mate...give me your chips."
"What...why? I said you could have my sausage roll."
"Yeah, but somebody else took my chips, so I want yours now."
"I don't give a crap. The chips are mine."

How I see that conversation going.

How many times do we have to go through the same situation before people realise that being under contract means nothing. Nobody wants a disgruntled player at their club and Anderson wants out to play AFL. Hawks will be trading him this year and will accept unders. Hawks either clear out a spot for him in the 22 or trade him.

First rounder.... just lols. He would be lucky to fetch anything above 40.

I try to refrain from debating with hypocrites...

So if that happens, whichever club gets Anderson would be subsidising the price Hawthorn pays for Yarran. How does that make sense? Oh I got it. West Coast gives its first for Jed on the condition that Carlton gives its first for Brant Colledge. Send that to SOS and get it done.

Hawks will be bend over absolutely in this trade. It's happening and whichever team goes in will be going in dry. Lucky to get anything better than pick 40. If Hawks don't like it, clear out a spot in the 22 for him.

you know he signed his 1 year contract this year right?

He dose not want out of Hawthorn, but he is open to moving for better opportunity, an arrangement meet at the contract table.

you ever consider it might be Andersons mgr making an empty threat there by twisting our arm to retire players and play him?

All I'm saying is that Hawthorn would probably like to have a pick in the first round.

Is Anderson's manager a freelance agent or is he the mouthpiece for Anderson? Anything the manager says has been spoken at the dinner table with Anderson on many occasions. He wants out to play AFL. It's as it always goes, trade him now and get pick 40 or get nothing next year.
