And when we get 5, maybe we will go back and offer that? Can’t offer what we don’t have

Where is the article saying Lions offered pick 5 for Neale and Freo have knocked it back?Only by choice. You could have it quite easily.
Gotta give up something to get something.

So? If it were a case of waiting for it to arrive, Peter Bell wouldn't be coming out and announcing Fremantle are pulling out of Hogan.Yeah and we haven’t got what we want from Brisbane yet. Sound familiar? Or is it only Melbourne thts allowed to say no to a deal?
We don’t have 5
Pick 2 for Weller. This is hilarious, Freo spent years trying to get Hogan to come home and held the go home factor over the Dees heads as a constant threat. They have now removed this threat as Hogan wont want anything to do with this rabble moving forward. Expect Hogan to see out his career as a Dee which is a massive win for the Dees.
The kickers is Freo saying 5 isn't good enough for Neale but then turning around and low-balling on Hogan. Thanks for taking the laughing stock batten away from my club.

Brisbane have already put their first pick, currently No.5, on the table and are also believed to have dangled pick No.24 before shifting it to Gold Coast in a pick swap. The Dockers rejected it.
Just hearing that Melbourne never asked for 2 first rounders they would have been happy for pick 5 and 23 lol
So two things are likely here:
1) They’re bluffing. Melbourne want May, Brisbane want Neale. This allows them to play hardball with Brisbane and brings Collingwood back in it for May. So Melbourne now take less for Hogan so May gets done, and keeps Brisbane guessing.
2) Fremantle’s offer was final. This is either because:
1) Freo are the new Essendon and try to be hard men. In which case lol.
2) Hogan’s medical wasn’t quite right. They did say he passed it but maybe it was a qualified pass and the navicular is more troublesome than it might overwise appear. In that case the deal might be off.
My original guess was #1, but if what Barrett is saying is true (hint: it might not be) then we start to think 2. In that case we’ll be seeing who’s laughing in a couple of years time.
He will also know the club that has wooed him for 4 years and offered him a $1.2m a year deal have ****ed him when he finally stuck his neck out and said he will join them.Jesse Hogan will go into next year knowing the dees wanted to flip him and try take advantage of his delicate situation. He won’t resign and he’ll most likely leave next season. Probably not to Freo but still.
That wasn't anything official from a club was it?

So one might concede that Freo's tactics are already working.
Melb: It will be one of the highest value trades ever - two first rounders minimum
Freo: We don't want to lose Neale, so we may not have pick 5
Melb: May is contingent on trading out Hogan
Freo: Let's take pick 6 off the table by trading it to Port for a bunch of lower picks
Melb: Freo are stalling
Freo: Here's our offer - by the way it's the highest offer we can make with the picks we have now
Melb: That's an insulting bid
Freo: OK, we're done here
Melb: Well actually we would have accepted 5 and 23
I know which bits I would put in a negotiating text book...
Melbourne released the info on Trengrove

The reality is, you botched this hard, and are now the laughing stock of the AFL.
Now Hogan goes to WC for pick 20.
Could you imagine?
In all seriousness, Hogan when fit is as elite as they come. What were Freo thinking? They could get him for pick 11? Give me a break.
