I will only accept this decision if we get him for sweet heck all.

Nothing wrong with having him on the list. But there is plenty wrong with thinking he can actually play.

The Taylor Adams deal is what we need to focus on.

Excuse my use of figurative language. It is hard not to feel a little flat about a guy like White when Sydney are able to recruit Tippett and Buddy in succesive years.

Yeah, but it seems quite the connection to make to relate Sydney's scamming of the salary cap to us suddenly "begging" Sydney for White.

So then isn't everyone begging since they're not all getting Franklin?

I mean, the Franklin situation has nothing to do with us and is out of our control.

Please don't get hung up on the begging word. I simply used it to paint the picture that Sydney are able to operate above the salary cap whilst the remaining clubs have to make do with what is left. If we do recruit White then I hope he does well. I won't be expecting much though.

What makes you the expert?

I say White deal all but done. Just waiting for Trade Period to start next Monday

Who cares if he's a Sydney outcast? If he comes at the right price and improves our list, sign him up.

Scotland was unwanted at Collingwood and he's done alright for the cheats. We traded away Williams and he nearly won a Brownlow for the AFL Swans. And we did pretty well picking up one James Clement as I recall, not to mention another outcast in Medhurst.

I think LL is referring to those posters that seem to think he is going to be the second coming.

Perfect examples, players can be better player at a new club

He's the perfect shit truck to allow you to play only 1 ruckman, exceptionally fast for his size and physical he would be better than Lynch around the ground and averages 1.5 goals compared to Lynch's output of 0.4 goals

This is the part that I think some of us disagree on. I don't have a problem with getting players from other clubs. I just don't think that this guy will improve our list. I see it as a desperate attempt to correct the mistake of recruiting Lynch. I would prefer to see Reid remain up forward or give Paine a crack at it, whilst playing both Grundy and Witts. I don't think we need a guy who has done very little to date to show that he can play at a consistently good level.

whilst playing both Grundy and Witts.

Agree in theory as good to develop both but in practice this year it made us a little slow when Witts & Jolly or Witts & Hudson both played in same team and I don't see Grundy as that much quicker than them. Next year's interchange cap will probably mean speed, endurance, mobility, versatility are all that little more important.

Better chance of Witts & Grundy in same team when Witts more developed up forward and likes of Mooney more developed in their footy and can add compensating pace.

That'd be easy to do if we were the only suitor.. however if we offer a 3rd round or a 4th round then someone else easily trumps us and we lose him

Except he's stated he wants to come to us, and would have to agree to the trade.

I originally thought it would take a second rounder, but given the situation the Swans have placed themselves in, a third rounder and swap of seconds (ie. trade down about four picks in the second round) ought to do it.

Where did he say he wants to come to us? last thing I read said he wants to come to Victoria

That would be a great deal for us, 3rd rounders very rarely play any AFL games and a slight downgrade in the 2nd round won't change anything
