I Live in geelong and have been there a few times for local footy. Its a lovely ground for viewers, great view from the stands.

Ive played on it before too, the pockets are deep as, you're halfway to lorne if you get stuck in one. Fanta and tippa will love if though as it is easy to get defenders pinned really deep if you apply pressure and get them to go sideways deep in our F50

Can i just say, i'm that disappointed with the response to that loss, and the lead up to this game. The boys are off gallivanting around the country on holidays. They should be disgusted with themselves & pushing hard on the track. Heppell is walking hand in hand in Byron Bay FFS. I know i'll probably hear "calm down, it's only a practice match", but it's about driving standards and expectations. Reward for effort. Punishment for lack of. It seemed like the boys were shining their 9 irons & packing their sunblock for the post saturday festivities.

lol, welcome to the AFL...

But seriously, they most likely were getting flogged on the track on the lead up to that loss & along with gastro & red hot Tigers, it was never going to be a game we did well in. That's the way it reads anyway, so best to just ignore it.

& are they not supposed to enjoy themselves in a week off? I know I do especially when Ive stuffed up at work the week prior;)

It will be interesting mainly to see what happens in defence because it's clearly the most unsettled part of the ground.

I assume that Redman missed due to illness because he was arguably the best small defender/half back in the intraclub and he's running has gone to another level (indicating that he's been working hard so far). Surely we will test someone in Baguley's role - it's getting to Homer Simpson-Frank Grimes levels with that guy. It's difficult to see how either gets a game come round 1 but I expect both to play in JLT2.

I'd expect that Hartley and Brown will be playing off for a spot in the side. From the two games to this point I have Hartley ahead on points (because Brown has done nothing) but assume that Brown is the preferred player because he has been playing as one of the key defenders in each of the games to date (he played for the 1st choice defence and was matched against Daniher in the intraclub). Hartley looked okay defending smaller players aginst Richmond (he didn't seem to struggle to keep up with anyone - Castagna did get away from him once but Castagna would burn any other key or mid-sized defender we have) without having any real impact on the game.

Langford will have to play out of his skin unless Myers is not ready physically. Hopefully his lack of game time against Richmond was a result of illness and not the result of some misguided notion that his development as a midfielder will be assisted buy his being the specialist 9th choice mid in the side.

McKernan might be able to force Stewart out if he plays at the same level as he did against the Tigers though I suspect that he's really the cover for Hooker.

From what I can tell, with Laverde and Francis not available for selection, the best 22 is otherwise settled unless injury becomes a factor.

Ablett out helps, but their midfield still bats a lot deeper than ours. I reckon if we can get 3 of Hurley, Bellcho, Fanta and/or Stewart into the side we are a chance. Also will help if Zmerrett & Heppell play a full game. Depends on personal for both teams I guess, but geez - you'd want a better showing than what we put up against the Tigers....

It's quite annoying how long it's taken us to find the right balance within our midfield. I wouldn't actually say that there's many average players there, it's just that we're too one dimensional with our midfield stocks, and any attempt to fix this has been quite strange. Such as Langford....

I'm too lazy to look at past results but I have a feeling Worsefold has no interest at all in winning practice matches. Didn't we lose them all last year? Would be interesting to see his results in pre season at West Coast, I think he would be running at less than 50% for wins.

Ablett out helps what exactly? If it were a game for premiership points then sure, I agree with you. But in praccy matches you want to be analysing our midfield’s capacity to deal with all situations and players. If we’re trying to improve our team defence I want them testing that out against one the greatest players to play the game. It helps not one iota if he’s out.

I'd say that we are still very much in the process of finding the right balance of midfielders.

Helps our chances of winning - that’s what I meant. Not sure you can argue much with that..!!

Ticket purchased. What a freakin nightmare that is, I'm glad I don't have to deal with it on a match by match basis.

Glad to hear there is VFL. Will Strachan be playing?
I'd hazard a guess we'll be putting out a pretty strong side, but I'm not sure if he's still with us this year yet.

Safe to say we are all keen for improved effort and some indications of what we have been working on this preseason. The issue with going at half rat power is we cant play our way without the ball. Whatever last week was there's not much point in a repeat.
