Bundle him up with an offer for Dan Houston where another bundle with Noble may drag pick 13 from the Gold Coast
We’re all hoping for this! Shafts Carlton, gives PA a first round pick, a good small forward prospect & likely a future pick, and Pies get a gun! Win win win!

I reckon he’s decided to leave.

Me too.

Consider how it probably happens.

It’s not as if he’s a big name player who is entering free agency.

He was drafted at pick 48 and has just finished his second year.

He’s a small forward who has kicked 6 goals in the 9 games he’s played. He’s never played a finals game.

Of course we all love him and reckon he’ll be a decent player, but we’re all Collingwood nuffies blind to the fact that there are 17 other clubs who also have exciting young developing players.

The fact is Richards is a nobody in the comp. There would have to be at least 500 active AFL players who have a higher profile than him.

And now Port Adelaide - a team he’s never even played against (and he’s never even played in Adelaide) suddenly want to throw a three year deal at him?

My guess is that doesn’t happen unless his agent shops him around. And an agent doesn’t shop a player around unless the player wants to be shopped around.

Richards wouldn’t be the first player under the current regime to want out. Henry, Ginnivan, Adams … there’s some handy names there.

If Richards helps us land Houston then I will love him forever.

We should get Ivan Soldo to have a chat to him

When Fly praised Joe in his speech last night and said he "looks forward to seeing what Joe can do in a Pies jumper for years to come" I wrote it off as Fly being the supportive coach and emphasising his distance from list management/trading.

Now I'm starting to wonder if he really would've said that if Joe had turned down the club's offer.

Ah well..........barring his (part in) getting us Houston I hope he stays.

I didn’t watch the Copeland, but note that Joey got an award and spoke to that.

Was there any hint as to his future?

Even a nod or a wink?😉

I want to keep him, and I hate this waiting game for a player we’d prefer to keep. Ollie Henry was the last player of note to put me/us through this, and it’s torture.

I think port would push for 2 seperate deals, should dan houston go to pies.

It would dilute ports returns for houston if richards is aport of the deal

Thats how our list boss opperates
Wouldn't the same theory mean separating the deals means the returns that Collingwood and GC get for Lukosius are maximized?

It's ideally set for the holy grail of trade week - a mega deal.

given that we’d need 13 to satisfy you guys that involves the suns on the trade. I wouldn’t be surprised that if there is a deal it a 3 way that sees port get Richards and Lukosius, collingwood Houston and the suns noble, with a whole bunch of picks involved to satisfy all parties.

Yeah thats true

Richards is an interesting one. If the money/years offered by Port is not well above the Pies offer he'd be smarter to stay. There's always a risk involved in moving clubs. As a speculative pick he's already had some success at Collingwood in his first year. Building on that is the better option than the risk of moving clubs.

Much more comes into a decision, but purely on football terms I think he'd do better to stay.
