What's the obsession with Tippet and it's link to Dawson? I mean, would it really make crows supporters feel better if they somehow got Dawson in PSD or low picks as a 'payback' for Tippet? It woudn't change what's happened with Tippet. There seems to be a bit of emotional baggage involved with Tippet and it's linked with Dawson for Crows supporters. It's fascinating if the Tippet stuff will play any part in the Dawson negotiations.

Thanks for providing a reason to my question!
I don't think the Tippett situation has any impact on the trade negotiations. AFL recruiters are professionals. That being said, you'd have to be an emotionless robot to not understand why the average Crows fan on Bigfooty would love to see Sydney reamed at the trade table. Tippett being an overpaid, injury-prone spud at the Swans who choked in 2 GF's helped soften the blow but it's no substitute for poaching one of your better players and handing you a bag of shit for compensation.

Cameron was under contract.
Ah was he? I did try to check that and all I could find was a quote from Roo talking about Brisbane's offer and how we couldn't match that so I assumed with that he was also at the end of his contract.

Poor example then but I'm sure there are other examples of players out of contract that has still got a strong return for their respective clubs.

Given how long ago it was, youre right it counts for almost nothing and thats being generous too.

For the lols, its worth everything.

Sydney losing players for paying massive overs for Buddy, is an enjoyable side show.

My understanding is that Charlie told Adelaide he would play out the last year of his contract but he would be leaving at the end of that year. Adelaide cut him loose early so they could get a better deal for him while he was still under contract.

We may still have had a better hand. If he went into the draft we may have had 1st option. GC would have picked him up. Brisbane were it a no win unless they paid up. We were desperate for a pick because of the Gibbs overpay.

By first option, are you saying he may have chosen to stay if it was between us and GC?

Maybe they can pinch Krueger from the Cats then. Point is, if we make everyone hate the PSD, maybe they'll scrap it (before it gets used against us next time).

The devil you know...

Considering power is always going to be in the players hands, and not the losing club, it's certainly not a far stretch that we could see PSD replaced with a more punishing mechanism.

We as supporters absolutely are bitter over Tippet.

Though our club was at least 50% responsible for the ****up.

That being said I doubt the club will let it factor into what occurs.

incorrect, Charlies manager said the opposite. He said if a deal wasn't done Charlie would refuse to play for us in the last year of his contract.

Most of us just want to get him as cheaply as possible. Getting revenge for Tippett won't be a factor whatsoever.

I think a deal will get done, but won't involve pick 4. Pick 23 + take your pick out of: Frampton/Jake Kelly compo/future 3rd round pick would be my bet.

Can you say Tippett again?

Hmm, I was really confident of this but searching for a source I can't find one.

It's possible I'm misremebering I suppose. my bad.
From what I've heard about Charlie that doesn't shock me...

Takes a very special person to actively want to sit out of a job for a year while your employer still pays you

not going to lie, I've had some terrible employers that I'd have happily done that to, particularly if I had another job lined up.

I see an article where his manager played the mental health card, saying that Charlie was down on form throughout most of 2017 and that might continue if the Crows didn't trade him. Can't see anything about him refusing to play though.

The only player I can remember that refused to play was Gibbs........when selected

Cameron was only ever going to Brisbane, he had agreed to terms mid year and apart from a good final had basically checked out.

I think his actual value is around pick 6 (based on the average quality of players taken at or around that pick including both the superstars and complete duds) but given the fact he's uncontracted, your position in the PSD and the fact he's going back to SA for family reasons I can't see us getting much better than a late first rounder for him unfortunately. Hopefully we can get something extra on top of pick 23 but it wouldn't surprise me if that's the deal that ends up being done.

Either way you guys will end up with an exceptional player just entering his prime for pretty good value.

all things being granted, a deal will be done centred around pick 23. There might be a little finessing here and there, but that’s the central plank

it’s just not worth the time & emotion for either party to huff and puff too much because the needle isn’t going to move too far from that in the end
