Kelly grew up as a die hard north supporter and dad phil played for north.ive seen the pic of young josh decked out in north colours and His dad stated of a junior pic of his son stating "dreaming of the day he plays for north". Another most dont know ron joseph recently had a meeting with joshs family.thats something no teams been able to achieve. Shit if i was offered $500,000 extra a year to play for my childhood team. I wouldnt hesitate
Sounds like he's a lock then.
Would be mighty embarrassing if Kangaroos missed on him now.

The other side of the coin for Carlton's exciting youth and star power is that the club has been rebuilding but for that year they finished 9th and played finals.

Does a team full of high draft picks entice a young player to come over? There are more at GWS

All clubs are selling hope, would I rather have Carlton's hope to sell? Yeh.

I would think the North folks would realise sooner or later that the other clubs (St Kilda, Carlton and Essendon) are (mostly) not going after each others throats, despite everyone being desperate for Kelly to strengthen our less than adequate midfields. It is ONLY North that are behaving in such a juvenile manner, lashing out at any opinion that he is going somewhere other than their club.

It's very strange to be honest.

Can you shed any goss on him going to The Saints?

Why doesn't Kelly just sign a two-year deal and try to win a flag? And then if he wants to leave at the end of 2019, the big money will still be there for him.

GWS are as well-placed as any team in the competition to challenge in 2018-19. It would be a strange decision to walk away from that and go to a rebuilding club.

It's not the high draft picks themselves. It's what they do collectively. Heck they don't even need to be high draft picks.

Also, I don't think that is what would entice Kelly to consider one particular team as an option. He is not going to sit with his manager and calculate the number of first rounders each club has.

It's more so about the contract, the relationships, the culture, the direction and where he will get the most out of himself. It's usually the same with most other players.

Could be North or it could be another club.

Wouldn't that point to staying put?

None of the teams chasing him are as well-placed as GWS.

It may. But GWS has its flaws too.

They look like a very strong team going into every season and do happen to make the finals, but don't seem to have the strength to go all the way. Here are a few reasons why.

- They get their fair share of injuries. They now have lost Cameron for the rest of the year and Mumford is
- A lot of players occasionally appear to be out of form.
- They lack team ethics. They don't seem to perform like a team but more-so like a group of individuals. Some players come across quite selfish like Smith, Johnson, Greene, etc. Other lack that strong leadership like Davis. And a few potentially create divides within the group like Shaw.

Making finals is one thing but winning the premiership is another. It becomes a matter of whether Kelly thinks they are able to and that depends on how far they can go. Probably why he still hasn't decided to re-sign.

They're better placed to win a flag in the next two years than any club trying to poach him.

There's no real reason they can't go all the way.

Sos never recognized kellys before others. North tried in vain but GWS had pick 2

Should have traded down to pick 1 or 2 that year yourselves. Getting Josh Kelly obviously wasn't more important then than signing old FAs or keeping shittrucks like Swallow and Ziebell. You snooze, you lose.

Yes they are better placed. But that doesn't necessarily mean they can go all the way. What if they ended up like St. Kilda a few years back? Dominant but luckless.
Besides, many players have jumped from a team better placed for the flag to one that isn't.

I personally can't see the giants winning one if they continue to play the way they are now because as I said, they lack cohesion.
The other clubs perform more like teams than what the giants do.

How does that saying go? A champion team is better than a team of champions.

You base this on what? Tea leaves?

They could have had him the year before in the mini draft too if they really wanted him. Sounds to me like they clearly didn't rate Kelly that high

Face it. Carlton currently in better shape than North. They have more pillars and more young exciting prospects. Only a fool would deny it.

Face it.

We beat this list that is supposedly in better shape.

My logical conclusion is that you are delusional and should not be trusted in all matters Carlton.

I wonder why north need to offer double what GWS have offered Kelly. You'd think Kelly would sign up for far less than that because of his supposed love for north.
Are North overly desperate for his signature or did they need to make a mega offer to blow other clubs out of the race? It would be funny if Kelly knocked them back anyway.

Double? I heard it was triple.

Clearly if Martin is worth 1.2 mill then Kelly is worth 2.4 mill.

Of course they can.

Then he can chase the big money at the end of 2019. He'll still have a shitload of options at that stage. But if premierships are an incentive, then it makes infinitely more sense to sign a two-year deal and stay at GWS.

OK, champ. Let's write them off for the next two years based on a lean patch of form, despite them having an absolute blue-chip list.

These are ridiculous arguments.

No one is leaving GWS because of doubts about the list or the likelihood of them playing finals and challenging in the next two seasons. If Kelly goes, it will be for other reasons.

How does that saying go? A champion team is better than a team of champions.
Well, if there's a cliche about it, it must be true. You convinced me!

Well your lot upped their offer to Dustin to $1.7mil pa and he knocked it back.

So tell us what North's offer to Kelly is? Don't try the diversion tactic, just put a number down, just give us your intuitive evaluation on what Kelly's offer is. Supposedly he's got an offer from GWS of $850k x 2 .

Sweet Jesus, I see you have only been posting since 2014, so you are very new to the special levels of delusion we get from certain elements of the Carlton folk.

The old timers know this is nothing new. Premierships were going to fall from the sky when they drafted Murphy then topped up with Gibbs & Kruezer.

Then reality happened.

Just replace Murphy, Gibbs & Kruezer with Marchbank, Curnow & Weitering.
