Traded Junior Rioli (West Coast) - [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

He has played 50 games in 6 years. 24 of those in 1 season. As we know has missed the rest for every reason you can think of and probably should still be serving a suspension. Was originally drafted with a pick in the 50’s. I can’t see how anything this bloke has done has his increased his trade value. Not to mention he is out of contract.

West coast fans hung up on the fact you paid him for 2 years when he wasn’t playing doesn’t mean Port owe you.
If Port give up that pick they are genuinely insane.
He’s still one of the most talented players in the league, if he is on the park consistently for Port would be worth a top 15 pick to them.

Getting him on the park is the big question mark.

One of the most talented players in the league is a massive call.

Potential vs liability

His career numbers based on afl website stats are rated average or below in every key stat.

His highlights reel is flash but it’s a very very short story

Yeah but one can football and the other can’t, Rioli is better as a forward and in the midfield.

If you seriously think Graham is a better player you have problems.

We don’t know if one can “football” any more as he basically hasn’t played for 3 years.

Riolis worth in 2018 is not remotely what it is now. This year he showed close to nothing (which is all we have to go of) and what he did show is not high quality football. He’s significantly older now, has fitness and form issues and who knows what anyone will get out of him going forward.

Graham has more to offer long term therefor demands more at the trade table.

We may get 2 good years out of Rioli if we’re lucky. Graham can offer another 5 years of good footy at his age and with his qualities and offers leadership.

Wish we weren’t going near Rioli as on performance he’s not worth anything more than pick 40.

You would think Freo fans have enough trade threads of their own to reply to.

But here they are. Being Freo fans obsessed with everything big brother is doing. ;)
Some of us actually have interest in the game outside of what our own team is doing. We even know the names of some players from other clubs.

Rioli had the best 3 games of the two this year.

Despite having obvious personal and fitness issues, says a lot.

I’d rather the potential game changer than a list clogger personally. Jack Graham is no chance of being the difference for Port, Rioli has the potential to be.

Be a game changer for only what 5/6 games over the next 2/3 years? A player who only offers that doesn’t command a second rounder at 28. How many years has it also been since Rioli “changed a game”?

Based on this years results I’d say he didn’t change the game once, meaning it’s been 3 years since he had that impact. Therefor, worth not much and at 28, you don’t pay for potential you pay for output.

I mean he literally was the reason we won our 2 games for the season.

Was either BOG or second in both games.

Started off the year hot kicking 8 goals in his first 3 games but fell away, with no matches for 30 odd months, family tragedy ect. Port heirachy supposedly offered Rioli up to 2.3/2.4m over 4 years which is an extremely strong offer and not somebody the heirachy think is a 3rd rounder and happy to walk through the PSD, despite what supporters want.

That a player allegedly helped a absolute shithouse team win a couple of games is the dumbest argument for why port should pay through the roof for him.

A state leaguer could have been a standout for west coast this season.

Also, west coast fans calling rioli one of the most talented players in the league is laughable

Full of shit.

Lol at west coast fans and their need to make up shit

Show us credible reports that say that amount.

Lol at west coast fans and their need to make up s**t

Ill find it.

Edit:

"He had a multi-year offer to stay at West Coast on the table but a four-year deal worth up to $2.4 million persuaded him to join the Power. Former Eagle Xavier Ellis blasted Rioli for comments he made following a medical at Alberton Oval earlier this month."

I actually agree with the Port heirachy. Rioli will be a good acquisition.

I mean you said he hasn’t changed a game in three years when he won us our only two games this season.

How many players have two years out and come in “unfit” and dominate their second game back? Hard not to say he’s a top 20 most talented player in the league, commitment obviously is another issue.

Good acquisition, Yeah with a nothing pick like 50 something like the one WC used on him 6 years ago

Top 20. Wow now I have heard it all. If he that good ask for pick 7

Do you mean the game against Collingwood where he got 0 Brownlow votes and 6th best for the Eagles alone on the match report and Essendon where he got 1 Brownlow vote and admittedly named 2nd best?

Again that’s 1 good game in 3 years and any worth is irrelevant due to such a limited sample size.

He’s a cream on top player. Will kick goals when on top but offer not much otherwise. No surprise most his goals this year all came against the bottom teams and the Pies early before they got any momentum.

Again would rather Graham’s 15+ solid games over 1 good game per year.
