1-4 start to season, will be significant noise

2-7 and Gonski

For me, if his pressers are representative of how he engages internally, then it's why we are conservative and flat

Couldn't motivate a fart after a night of Indian food

Sadly, I agree. I had high hopes for him, but with the level of talent at his disposal he should be doing wayyyy better with this squad. I’d also punt Jamie Graham based on that mic’d up session they played on the website where he was equally uninspiring. God it’s no wonder we can’t effectively enter fwd 50 and regularly record a decent score. We desperately need a coach or coaches with an attacking mindset and a forward strategy.

I recall this and agree

Strange that graham is also highly considered

I know we see a small sample size but both don't inspire

I think JLo is a good training coach but not a match day coach, it's his demeanour. He hasn't got that mean streak, you see him in the interviews ,he's like a mouse. He doesn't have any real anger which sometimes you need to rev the players up, to get in their heads and motivate them in unity. Us against them ,he lets mediocrity prevail. You need a good training coach and matchday coach, like many have said already ,he keeps playing the mediocre players that haven't improved to date and have no more ceiling and wouldn't make the 22 in other teams i.e., Banfield, Hughes, Taberner(broken down) , O'Meara(past it) ,Sturt( will he ever?) .
He's actually had enough time and we now have a good list, hope it's not all wasted.
Imagine Ross with this list.

Under the scenario JLo is gone mid season, who takes over?
Me. I just ran a great pre season session with my u12's. Focusing on kicking low in windy conditions, handballing both sides of the body, then handballing in tight then kicking to a leading target.
Probably over qualified TBH.

How long does it take to implement your style?
You have Fagan, McRae, Kingsley.
Brisbane, Pies were bottom 8. So it is achievable and continued success rather
than one off.
Joel Corey
Joel is an introvert like his father and doesn’t like the limelight.
Great player, trainer, attitude and hardworking but if people hate JLo’s
Press conference forget Corey.
As an assistant he already has a flag with the Bulldogs, so he is not the problem.
It is the club not just one person, same issues plagued Ross.
The only guy to go on to a head coaching role is Scott, not exactly an endorsement
on the so called brains trust.

Caretaker is what was asked, and I think Joel Corey would be good for a caretaker

Who on earth is his dad?

You can’t rate Graham off that mic’d up session surely? He’s been the no.2 at two clubs, winning a premiership at one them (probably wasn’t the no.2 man in 2018).

Unless JL is re-signed or is sacked after the season finishes I think we’ll get a look at him coaching this year tbh.

Is this the same Joel Corey that took over our midfield from Josh Carr and it suddenly went from one of the best midfields to one of the worst?

It’s hard to tell if Carr had the midfield humming or was it Mundy/rejuvenated Brodie/Acres that had us humming. AB played career best year(what happened to this guy? Dropped chest marks the other night)

I’ve never liked judging assistant coaches by how parts of the team are performing tbh.

Jaymie Graham is 110% no.2 at the club and has been since he’s been here. Every time a senior job comes up for the last 2-3 years his name has been mentioned. He’s highly rated in the industry and is at Freo too.

But I still used that Joel Corey example because I think a lot of this board have liked to judge assistant coaches that way in the past.

From the outside in it looks like 2. Graham 3. Boyd 4. Corey to me. I think Josh Carr was no. 3 at the time but would possibly be no.2 if he came back.

I think Graham would be no.2 by quite a long way tbh and I would be surprised if the caretaker was anyone else.

How flexible is the soft cap in the situation of a coach getting boned mid year? Is it a calendar year-to-year spend and so you're stuck with an internal caretaker, or can you roll forward some cap spending and give an assistant from outside that you really fancy a trial?

I’m willing to give JL as long as it takes Ala Richmond and Hardwick. If JL is punted during the season you won’t see me back next year. Another 3-5 years of a coach finding his groove is out of the question.

How long did it take Kingsley and McCrae to find their groove?
Too remote? How long did it take Lyon when he arrived here? Half a season
