As Ian Chappell said it is better to have people say, 'why did you retire than why don't you retire'. The derailing of 2015 had more to do with our physical fitness guru over cooking the players in Dubai than it had to do with an individual player. The players were f’ed when they came back from Dubai and it showed. Kane's last game was in round 8 and by that time we had lost 5 from 8 so our season was well on way out.

This we overcooked them in Dubai has been debunked by Burgess himself

He actually went very light on them mid week in the first 5 or so weeks due to heavy workloads on Saturdays (Showdown, big game against the hawks ect) rather than maintaining their load what he does now even with a heavier saturday session

Burgess is hardly going to say anything else.

It was a non AFL podcast

And why would he admit that he ****ed up the training mid week? Like he admitted a mistake

Its not as if he didnt take any blame at all, he actually said he made the mistake

I'll find the podcast and put it here when I'm not at the gym

Have you seen the state of Journalism in Australia... Kane Cornes is just as much of a journalist as 99% of people working in the Australian media these days.
Not much different to 30 years ago. Just a lot less drunks and smokers.

I often laugh at who we call Sports Journalists.
Sure there are some educated and trained Journalists with formal qualifications from tertiary institutions but they would probably be lucky to be 25% of the Sports Journalists out there. The rest, just like Kane Cornes are Sports Commentators. So people who are as qualified as you or me to talk Sports. Sure some have experience in the field they are talking/writing about but they are by no means Journalists.
Kane Cornes is very good at getting reactions and reading the general public's persona on football matters. When blokes like Travis Boak and Tom Jonas try to avoid him I think it tells you something about what they think of him.

The Rockstar has called him out

Kane Cornes = "No player should do anything that could possibly be detrimental to team success in any way, in any aspect of their lives"

Also Kane Cornes = "Ok bye you guys gonna go do some fireman cosplay for a few weeks have fun!"

My take is he joined the firies and the culture didn't work for him as he was used to being some sort of big dog.
This is pretty much what I have heard from a few firies that had dealings with him in his short time in the MFS.

He also had issues with the way their shift rosters didn't fit with his media work.

This seems like an odd excuse for someone who survived a locker room environment for 15 years.

He was the one doing the hazing for most of those 15 years, so going back to the bottom would be a bit of a shock. Not so nice when it's you.

Wildy seems to manage it, or is he in the office at MFS these days?

OK, but he did a lot of media work before then.
Wildy swapped shifts with people on other shifts, when he was full time, which is pretty common. Probably meant doing it every 2nd or 3rd week during the footy season.

Kornes was on relieving day shift, he hadn't been allocated to, A,B,C, or D shift that have set days and nights set out for the full year. So he never did any night shifts or worked weekend shifts (which meant he could travel to Melbourne for 2 days at a time).

He was trying to sneak off early so he could fly to Melbourne on Friday's for the footy even though he had only been working a few weeks and months. He pissed off people as a result, and was told to put his MFS career first or leave. He left.

Kane is obviously his fathers son and worked out early its a lot easier to be a moron in the spotlight than one stuck around a fire station waiting for climate change to happen or the pyromaniacs to like the weather forecast. He's in the same boat as 'Scoop' in that he's a sensationalist and will pretty much say anything to get himself in the spotlight because if he doesnt the footy world will move on him pretty quickly and the sa media will look to the likes of Taylor Walker to be their sports media personality. I stop listening to Kane along time ago after he put himself into the Ken Hinkley protection racket squad and trying to jump off the sinking ship everyone can see happening wont make me feel like throwing him the life bouy. I think i'd prefer watching the struggle to keep his head above water until he slowly slides under the waves.
