You'll want to hear what I have to say about them when my weekly wrap comes out tomorrow. The trio are all legit - if that first viewing of Saturday's game is any indication.

Lukosius looks like the first overall pick. Rozee and Rankine are potential top 10 picks and if not probably first rounders from what I was watching.

Rozee would need to improve as a ball winner to become Gibbs-like. But as a forward, at least as a starting point, he does everything right from what I was watching.
Rozee got 39 touches in a game earlier this year, safe to say ball winning isn't an issue

Another great write up from you Knightmare! Exciting prospect CCJ is.

Im like you, really looking forward to seeing Rozee develop this season and into his draft year.
Rumour has it he can potentially play some League (Senior) football this year. He could be the sleeper and become a top selection.

James Worpel display for Geelong Facons last weekend, unbelievable numbers!! 43 touches, 16 contested, 7 tackles and two goals. A lot of people have him towards the back end of their first round ratings. Surely with numbers like this, he is in the picture as an earlier selection? I can't wait to see him go in against the VIC Metro boys this weekend. Where are you seeing Worpel at the moment?

Knightmare is it possible for you to add the top under agers for next year as well and how you think they compare to this year. In this draft where would the King Twins, Rankine and Lukosius would fit?
Thx

I might do that as an exercise later in the year if I get the time with all the names, as there are a few underagers I want to keep up my sleeve.

Lukosius pick 1. Max King top ten nearing top five. Ben King and Rankine would be top 20.

Rozee did everything I could have asked from for a forward. People are gushing about Rankine and Lukosius but Rozee is another who should in his own right be spoken about as a really exciting 2018 prospect.

Worpel is capable of those numbers and the only thing that doesn't surprise me is that he didn't do that sooner. I have Worpel towards the back end of the first round of my rankings. He is a contested ball winning beast. Plays with great physicality to him. Tackles hard. He isn't slow. The thing that holds him back is his kicking which is in my view even worse than Parish's which has been spoken about a lot. Not on is Worpel not damaging by foot, but he's plainly unreliable. He also doesn't outside of stoppages have the weapons or x-factor some others do, with that inside power what he brings to the table.

Comparable to Dylan Clarke in that sense? It seems clubs are very wary of these types so they can slide dramatically.

Has some similarities. Worpel is more powerful in the contested parts of the game again and also has some more explosion over the first 5m.

But Worpel is one who probably drops due to his inconsistent kicking.

Appreciate the info and thoughts on Worpel, Knightmare. One bonus about kicking is when you get picked by an AFL club, and your kicking the ball day in and day out, kicking efficiency/skill should improve! So upside in a sense to Worpel, being his kicking can improve.

Like most Im sure you'll be watching the midfield battle this weekend between Country and Metro. Who do you think will get the W in that department?
Worpel, Parish and Davis-Uiacke vs Rayner, Cerra and Petruccelle. Cant wait!!

Kicking and to a greater extent decision making rarely improves in clubland.

It's happened at Hawthorn with several of their players. And kicking can be improved incrementally, but generally speaking it's not radically improved at AFL level.

Vic M v Vic C. Metro have the better group so they should on paper win, so they're the pick of the two. Country do have the capacity to beat them and I wouldn't be shocked if they do get the win. It's a game I'm thoroughly looking forward to.

Stoked to see that as well. I wish I could see a litho-Aus walk out for port!

Do you have a litho connection?

Nah just the boring British-Irish links with some German and New Zealand left overs.

Ah. My missus is Lithuanian. Freakishly tall population. Should be importing rucks from there rather than fooling around with Ireland the last decade. They play basketball with a physicality not many national teams do. Most ball sides when they come up against Aus teams and guys like Damien Martin and delly cry foul but Lithuanians just get on with it. I'm gonna be cheering on lukosius whoever he plays for in 2019.

who will definitely be worse than Carlton next year?

At this stage, Brisbane, North Melbourne and Hawthorn all are worse.

Carlton are well coached and on the improve with the development of some seriously good young players likely to see them make further ground in 2018.

Could see each of those teams being better than Carlton. NM the one who I'd be least confident about.

Hawthorn will land a big FA and prob find a way to trade for another good player. Brisb have just a good group as Carlton.

Carlton are among that group and could easily finish bottom 2, esp if Gibbs leaves. They could also finish well ahead, its just too close a comp to call.

I agree with Knightmare that Carlton are underrated a bit and there group isn't going to far backwards with the young talent they have assembled. Weitering, Curnow, SPS, Silvagni, Cunningham, Williamson, Marchbank.

Along with Cripps, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer

Non dropping off there

Gibbs may leave
Kreuzer having a career year. Hasn't shown an ability to stay healthy for extended periods of time.
Murphy having one of his best seasons.
Weitering, Curnow, SpS, Silvagni, Cunningham, Williamson, Marchbank. all great kids who will get better. But improvement is not always linear, not unusual at all for kids to stagnate for a year. Brisbane have a nice crop of kids too.

Carlton's future looks v.nice, but they aren't there yet in terms of making a leap imo
