I'm a bit worried about us being linked with him at pick 6, even watching the all stars game he looked shaky with his kicking out of defence

Hard to argue that Collingwood won't go hard for KPPs this offseason. However, that doesn't mean it will be through their current first pick (#6). They may well trade (starting tomorrow) to get different picks and/or a mature KPP in - to obviate the need to grab Brander.

Hey KM, when can we expect the October update? Many changes being made?

There is always movement. Power rankings for October will be on ESPN next week.

I've also received permission from ESPN to place rankings 21-30 on bigfooty, so that will come shortly after into this thread.

Stephenson to me looks like the real X-Factor of this draft the kid is seriously talented I'm hoping that the Lions draft him at pick 1 I rate him higher than Dow and LDU who are rated strong chances to be taken at pick 1

Brisbane haven't committed to taking the first overall pick.

They seem open minded both with whether they retain the pick, and if retained, who they will select.

With Rockliff leaving, I suspect LDU is the favourite. I actually found his game to be the more impressive of the two on Saturday. LDU's play up forward with his sheer one-on-one strength is special - beyond simply his ball winning and acceleration from the contest through the midfield.

Stephenson is a top five chance. Pick one not out of the question, but he's not the favourite just yet.

G'day KM. Fogarty (Lachlan), Moore and Starcevich are three midfielders I like who are probably available in the second-round or maybe late in the first. Interested to hear you thoughts on the weaknesses with those three?

Cheers!

Nick Shipley. A 190cm, really solid build of kid ran a 2.84 20m sprint earlier this year. I see him playing midfield in future. Lookout.
Given Matt looks like skipping town on me, Nick is my new favourite prospect, has been for a few months :)

Clubs have all historic testing data and measurements on the kids. There is no hiding. Non issue.

It's possible but until he does become a number one option, he isn't. I'd ideally like a star key forward to pair with him.

Brander in my view is a second option.

Balta I wouldn't discount the chances of developing into a number one option. He has the weapons.

Next year up the top end with Lukosius and M.King, they may be number one options, if Collingwood can get a pick high enough to acquire either.

Hi Knighmare

Have seen both play a lot this year and I cant see how Balta is not in contention before Brander.

I am certain Balta will be a true key forward or back plays like a taller Rance in defense

Last year we really didn't see the kids transfer their games into the AFL McGrath, SPS and SPP being the only 3 to really establish themselves in their first year. Do you see a similar amount in this crop or are they more AFL ready?

Ah em.....Taranto played every game with GWS before he snapped his ankle in rd 11. Returned to NEAFL just before finals and slotted in for the semi final like he'd never missed a game.

Watch his preliminary final game - he was all class.

Hugh McCluggage- 18 games and showed quite a bit despite a small body size.
Jarrod Berry- 16 games, injured for the last month, was fantastic.
Alex Witherden- 9 games late in the season and was probably the best of our first year players, elite player in the making.

Witherden was silk - what a find for the Lions!

Jy Simpkin hardly embarrassed himself coming back from a broken leg. 13 games, 9 goals and some jaw dropping sidesteps.

Gee, down Freo way we were pretty happy with all of Darcy (amazing debut season), Ryan (ditto) and Logue (13 games).

Don't forget the brief cameo from Jacob Allison.

Cedric Cox showed some bloody good glimpses as well.
Basically I think we pretty much saw what we expected to see from 4 of our 5 draftees, and Witherden show well above expectations.

Most of us knew McCluggage came in undersized and would take a couple of years to really show his pure class.

Berry was coming off a injury interrupted season, and adapting to playing in the midfield.

We knew Cox probably had an adjustment period to go through, but that he's a smooth mover, and a clean kick off either foot.

Witherden was an elite kick before his severe leg break, it was just a matter time to heal from minor surgery preseason.

And Lions fans knew Allison just needed to settle on a position and work on his short kicking.

Not much was expected from Lyon in his first year, but he had a solid year in the NEAFL.
