All this could be a blessing in disguise for Melbourne. They can have a clear out and smarten up before this Tasmanian side comes in and takes all the draft picks. Pickett is young, but the others that want to leave like Trac and Neal Bullen will be over 30 when that Tassie team is clearing out the draft.
It could be a wise move to get a bunch of low picks for these players, hit the draft and have a strong competitive team in the next 2 - 3 years. Just find out who wants out, move them on, hit the draft and build.
I feel bad for Gawn though. If he had a more stable team around him, the guy would be a triple premiership player.

Pick 5 for Rankine was over at that time as he didn't showed what he did this year in the midfielder. Around pick 10 was his real value at that time so Pickett is around pick 8 while contracted is about right.
It wasn’t overs. It’s the precedent. Why would it be overs when the bloke wasn’t contracted?
Pick 8 won’t get close. Will need to be a top 5 or 2 picks inside 15.

Yes it was, Rankine only played an excellent 2nd half of the year he requested a trade as a small forward.
Kozzie has played an excellent 5 years. So he is worth more than Rankine.
Which is why I said Rankine at the time he was trade was around pick 10 and Pickett is around pick 8.
