He (or his management) might test the waters to see what he could get out there and to possibly try and squeeze a few more dollars from the Hawks but he will almost certainly sign a new contract with them.

This is the first time Franklin can just pick a club and there's jack shit Hawthorn can do about it (except match the salary, but presumably salary is why he would leave in the first place).

Not that I think he'll go, but it's a very different environment now than what it was previously. For players that are free agents anyway.
