According to the AFL's Trade Talk site

Adelaide will receive two first-round draft picks in exchange for defender Jake Lever after a trade deal was struck with Melbourne on Thursday morning at Etihad Stadium.

The Crows will get pick No.10, a future first-round selection and a future fourth-round selection from the Demons and send Lever, pick No.35 and a future third-round selection to Melbourne.

Good trade, really. Both sides will be relatively happy with this. The Crows can trumpet that they received two first round picks. Meanwhile Melbourne only had to up their initial offer from a 1st and a 2nd to two firsts and as a result received a second round pick this year (so they don't have to pick too deep in the draft) and a small pick upgrade next year. And the trade gets completed early so both sides can see what else is out there.

The trade feels about right, I think. Lever was worth slightly more than Melbourne's first and second but not enormously more. Hopefully now everyone can just move on and we can see if there are any other possible trades to pursue.


Now to do something good with the four first round picks we'll have over the next two years!
