The top 5 most efficient players who attended an average of 10 or more CBAs per game:

Dylan Shiel (15.2 CBAs) – 19%
Luke Parker (10.0 CBAs) – 17.5%
Jason Horne-Francis (14.2 CBAs) – 17.3%
James Peatling (12.2 CBAs) – 15.1%
Nick Daicos (21.0 CBAs) – 14.5%
Wish we were into Peatling, he’ll shine at a new club with a bigger role

There's a reason why his name has an * next to it, which is explained in small print at the bottom.

Both Keays & Michalanney attended less than 10% of all centre bounces, so their numbers are coming from a very small sample size - and may not be statistically reliable. Most lists of this nature filter out the outliers like these, by applying a minimum number of CBAs to qualify.

Mind you, I'm all for having a go at BC over their irrational hatred of Keays.

** Keays had 8 Centre Clearances for the entire 2024 season. That ranks him equal 145th across the whole AFL.

Seems a very unreliable stat. He had 20 total CBAs and in those matches where he had a CBA he had just 3 center clerances

Which is 15% efficiency not 40%

Keays turned 1 game where we through him in the middle.

I have no issue using him in the middle when others are having a bad day.

We should be using deeper midfield rotations.

And I might add the more centre bounces the player attends the likelihood their percentage would worsen?
It would tend towards the mean, rather than being unduly affected by a few statistical outliers.

He had 8 in the entire year but only 3 in games where he actually got a CBA.

5 in games with 0 total CBAs
So presumably he ran in off the wing, or from in front of the square, and affected the clearance, without having been present at the CB.

Wait, so he had 3 or 8 total CC’s?

Cause 8/20 = 40%
The AFL stats page credits him with 8 CCs. The graphic stated that he had a 40% clearance rate. I put the two stats together, coming up with 20 CBAs.

It turns out that many of his CCs were achieved without a corresponding CBA, so my figure of 20 is incorrect.

No he did actually attend 20 CBAs total, but only in 4 games. Had 8 CCs, but only 3 in those 4 games

Either way, it's largely a coincidence that the numbers stack up, given that many of his CCs are from clearances where he didn't have a CBA.

I haven't seen Bearded Clam, using his impeccable player judgement, to lambast Ben Keays recently ......could it be he was wrong about being a useless footballer, delist insistent.

We eagerly await his next kiss of death assessment .....will be a Brownlow certainty on Clams performance

I know I'll get shut down for this but Keays should play more burst roles in the midfield next year when we need a spark. He should NOT be a starting mid, but when we're desperate for pressure and effort no one does it better

Yes, you can find it on Wheelo.

Keays is #1 league-wide by a significant distance. Rest of the top 10:

Tyler Brockman – 30.4%
Rhylee West – 25%
Marlion Pickett – 22.2%
Finlay Macrae – 22.2%
Bailey Humphrey – 22%
Pat Lipinski – 21.9%
Josh Daicos – 21.9%
Steele Sidebottom – 19.4%
Ben Hobbs – 19%
Looks like it's pretty skewed towards those that don't spend much time in there.
Pretty hard to keep up a good average.
