Libby Birch and the perils of picking plodders

You have to feel for our girl, Libby, in her role as a tipster in the Age. Presently she sits second last at 58 wins on the tipping ladder, five clear of our wonderful skipper, Emma.

The problem for Libby and of course, Emma, is that when you are a player for any team, you are not allowed to use rational processes when tipping. If Libby had have picked against us in every game so far this year, she would be sitting on top of the Age list at 69 wins, ahead of three others on 68 winners. (Of course that conveniently ignores the fact that if she was still at the Godees, she would have had a few less winners on the board, but hey, who cares about the full facts when you need to make a point?)

Can't wait to see Libby and Emma and all of our wonderful girls back in action later this year. Here's hoping that this is the (first of many) years our girls claim the Premiership Cup, to sit proudly alongside the four VFL Cups at Arden Street.

Go North.
