Our president deserves respect. When you step back and think about it he accepted a position that blind freddy (the original) would not have touched with a barge pole. He is painted as being too self assured, arrogant, well what did people want after Bowers and co, a pussy/ a PERSON WHO DITHERED , a person who didn't believe in their own ability? sure he has made mistakes, but he has also done good things. Now Leigh is back, but didn't he operate all those years under Bowers? And I think he regrets that he didn't voice his opinion at the time. Unfinished business for Leigh. No this isn't as black and white (or maroon and blue plus a jumper logo) as people think.

Just now on the Fox AFL pre-game show: Roos confirmed, after a family discussion, he is not interested in the Lions gig, but is interested in the Melbourne job. In fact, I'd say from what he is saying, he will go to the Demons. And Eade not going north either.

You'd have to be a miracle worker Roosy....Melbourne a better list than Brisbane? o_O

It takes the same time to fly from Sydney to Brisbane as it does to Melbourne!

I'm confused???

Melbourne don't have Angus Johnson.

Roos is originally a Melbourne man, he has all his immediate family in Melbourne.

What a balls-up. An absolute disgrace. It's an embarrassment.

Sad,sad,sad.

The constitution allows Full Members 1 vote maximum.

Full Members qualify by their membership. Having multiple memberships would not entitle someone to multiple votes, as they are already qualified as a Full Member as a result of the 1 membership.

My son was originally on the same membership number, but was considered a separate membership. It's purely the way the club's CRM manages you, if each member is a separate person, has voting rights and is over 18 then they'll accept votes. That said, you can ask them to separate the members into their own number BUT they loose their silver/gold status.

Losing Roos to the lowly Demons is surely the end of Angus Johnson's chairmanship. What a low point.

Surely his half of the board (horrible that we can even say that) would be voicing their doubts to him after this.

It's understandable that he wants to stay on the board because he's trying to protect his reputation but if after this last bit of news he doesn't stand down within days then he is delusional. Letting it go to a vote is just going to make him look more out of touch with reality.

There is a clear perception that the Voss situation was handled poorly but the more I think about it the more I struggle to see how.

Firstly the thing that has been forgotten is that there is a difference between being sacked and being told your contract is not going to be renewed. Secondly the whole board, including the ones challenging, agreed not to renew Voss' contract.

They decided to tell him as early as possible, which is the right thing to do. If they had made their decision what is the use in waiting until the end of the season? Clearly it is Voss' right to stand down in this situation, I probably would.

You have to take all parties at face value when they say that they all knew that Voss was aware Roos was being contacted. That may be a slight sticking point and probably not the best way to conduct business but at least they didn't go behind Voss' back.

As per the letter that went out, he has been trying for years to get Leigh on the board or involved in some way.

They went hard at Roos but if he doesn't want to come up here then that's that. Roos, to the looks of things he only really made a final decision last night, how long has he kept us hanging?

In the end, if Roos didn't want to coach us then we are probably fortunate that he just told us. Otherwise we would be throwing a lot of cash at a guy who doesn't want to be here: a recipe for a disaster we don't really need.

This doesn't absolve the board one bit for the mess that led us to this point.

What we do need is a coach who thinks:

A) this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
B) I want to be in Brisbane (twentieth most livable city in the world!)
C) these players have the potential to develop into a champion team and I have a plan to do that.
D) whatever they said they were paying me I would take just to get this opportunity - money isn't the point.

Give me a coach like that and I think we would have a winner. Get cracking Leigh. Find us our man!

Only my opinion but I thought it was poor that at the press conference announcing a club legends contract as coach would not be renewed that you would talk about another candidate. Firstly disrespectful to the outgoing coach. Secondly to mention roos named directly whether he meant it or not created the perception he was close to signing. And now we know how that ended.

BB - Bit of a catch 22 because no coach worth their salt would talk to a club with one already signed.

Ross Lyon is worth his salt. Voss was off contract so I don't see how another coach would have an issue with agreeing to take the job for the following year. Could have easily been handled behind closed doors. Not everything needs to be played out in the media.

Think we need to go the best available now, whether that is a first time senior coach or not. We simply can't just settle for the best of the rest from the experienced coaches. Johnson has butchered what should have been a straight forward transition handled after the season finished, likely to be in 2 days. We are still yet to sign a new coach, so why we needed to rush Voss out the door is mind boggling. I don't know if the new board will be any better at running the place than the last, but at least they have 1000 x more footy experience and that's a pretty good starting point for me. Angus strikes me as the kind of person that wouldn't listen to 'footy' advice over his own personal 'business' opinion anyway. After hearing Brown was asked about Voss and if he was doing a good job, to which Brown said yes, but they ditched him anyway, it shows they have their own agenda, and it's nothing to do with football.

If Angus had half a clue he would know he is dead in the water and is standing in the way of what is best for the club. I appreciate the time he has put into the club and the job he has done, as i think he has done it to the best of his ability, but he isn't the man for the job.

And do it the day of a Gala event...

And do the presser the next day...

And have the Chairman get heckled and jeered at the event...

Then lie to the media that it was just 1 person heckling...

Then turn up to presser, raise members hopes that Roos is in the wings, albeit disrespecting Voss at the same time as doing so, then deliver nada.

Then point at other board members when as Chair, you're supposed to take responsibility.

Not sure how it could have been handled worse tbh.

Oh, and then tell Lethal, the only bloke in the country that wants to help the club, that he can wait till December if he's not prepared to work with the current board.
