I don't think Roo's will coach Melbourne either. All just a stunt for his profile and ego. Used and abused us until Lethal came onto the scene (To scared to pussy foot the old man around Roos?) now he playing with Melbourne. Piece of work he is.

On another topic wouldn't mind seeing Luke Power come onto the board at some stage.
:thumbsu:

I registered on thelionsroar site when all this came up, when they were asking for numbers......as a supporter member, I can't vote, but do I need to do anything else to help?

Spread the word far & wide. Write/email the club & let them know how you feel.

:D..No probs there, have been doing just that already!..Have sent 4 emails since the sacking, tried to do another one today on this laptop but it wouldn't go through for some reason...been giving my opinion to opposition supporters who would listen and likely to spead the word (poor buggers!:p) unfortunately I don't come into contact with many Lions supporters.

..will be home again on thursday so will do it then.

I notice the final membership figure is posted. Went up by about 80 - might assume they are all people who want to get a vote at the EGM.

I'd be interested to know how many people, like me, upgraded from a season pass to membership with voting rights. The bloke I spoke to on the day I did it indicated they were pretty busy.

A little quiet on the EGM front recently....a tad disappointed that nothing has even been started.

The Williams ticket has asked people to fill in the paperwork calling for an EGM. Apparently, it can't be done electronically so I think it is reasonable to allow some time for people print the form, sign it and then post it to the PO Box nominated.

We need it to be called this week so we can be all set at board and coach level by October 1st.

We'd be in a far more powerful position if we have Lethal and a new coach in place when we are looking to retain / trade in players during trade week/s, look at players at the draft camp, then the draft and see what's available in the Free Agency list.

All this occurs Oct. 1st - 25th.

We'll be on the back foot if all isn't sorted by the end of September.

I think we need to accept the fact that, unless there is a change of heart by one of the two factions, this fractured board will make the decision regarding the new coach. It is a shit situation but that's the reality.

Why would it, it's not like it's important or anything o_O

I don't think you are completely appreciating the logistics or legalities involved. Easy to sit and complain but constitutionally certain boxes have to be ticked by the challenging party unless Angus walks in the meantime.

EGM requisition forms are legal documents that have to be worded very carefully, that was finalised last week and the forms have been sent to those who signed the expression of interest. Now there is an inevitable waiting period while they are posted back.

Saying it is "a little quiet on the EGM front" is completely inaccurate and is rudely dismissive of a fair bit of work that is being done behind the scenes.

If they wanted to sort it out now, they could, Angus is refusing so I think it is unlikely, even if an EGM is called, that he will do a quick date. IIRC, they have 2 weeks to pick a date, and that date can be upto 2 months away, that puts it in November. I think this is why Lethal is working with them on picking a coach, he knows we need things in place because they won't have control in time.

Really? o_O I think you may be looking at this through rose coloured glasses or are mates involved in the process?

It's approx. 600 signatures on a form, not 60,000!!! You could bloody get a stand set up down at Southbank on a Saturday morning and get that amount of signatures, administrate on the Sunday and all required paperwork to lawyers / interested parties on the Monday. 72hrs MAX

Do you honestly think any other AFL clubs or their influencial backers would take this long to call an EMERGENCY General Meeting??? Emergency is not whenever it gets done in my book.

For mine, it's further proof of the Lions currently being an amateur club

Really disappointed - every extra day hurts the club more and more.

C'mon seriously, this is taking waaaaaay too long to get off the ground.....

ERM ... you do realize that it isn't the club collecting signatures to call the EGM don't you? They are being mailed to a PO box owned by the 'opposition' for one thing - there's your 72-hour budget blown already.

I'm assuming that as soon as the required number of forms has been received, they will be presented to the board with the call to action. As the forms were only published last Thursday, realistically it is going to take until Weds / Thurs this week to hit that point I would think.

It is 600 signatures from roughly 12,000 people who hold the sort of membership that has voting rights attached. Unless you are running some sort of club function there, it would be very fortunate indeed to luck upon 600 people at Southbank on a Sunday who qualify.

FWIW, I think the Williams ticket should have been proactive at the Reserves game on the weekend. I get the feeling that they thought Angus would blink when Lethal joined the ticket. He has effectively called their bluff and I dunno that Williams et al had much of a plan B.

If it turns out there is a struggle getting the required numbers, I also think it is yet another sign of our apathetic and passive membership base.

It is an extraordinary general meeting. It is not an emergency general meeting. I suggest if you are going to shoot your mouth off, you should get your facts straight.

It's 600 signatures from a certain select group of people with voting rights, you then need those people to print and sign the form, get around to buying a stamp and actually posting it. You then need a few days for the mail to arrive, collate and count all teh forms and present them in one group. Not everyone is up to date with all things lions and worry about getting it in the mail quickly. It's possible it might take a good 2 weeks to get the forms needed.

I think you completely misunderstand the process.

It is 600 signatures from the 11,000 voting Brisbane Lions members. No way are there 600 Brisbane Lions members with voting rights milling around Southbank on a Saturday morning.

Also, who will get the signatures? Who will collate, check for double ups/validity, etc? Who is paying the lawyers? Who will pay the significant $$$ that is needed to be lodged with the EGM papers?

Can't see how this relates to the Lions being an amateur club as it is the rival ticket that needs to organise it.

You can bitch and whine all you want, but unless you are prepared to put your money and time on the line, get a grip. At the very least it would take 2 business days for Victorian members to post their forms in (if they printed and signed them straight away and not counting the time to draft them, etc) and your crying about what is about 4 business days as being a delay? Grow up.

I'm calling it that, I know the correct term thanks. Now it should be called extraordinary if it happens this year general meeting.
