Coach Lions - Has the Fagan era already peaked?

Funny how some Vics are going to run with this narrative now that it's a Sydney v Brisbane GF. There was only three academy graduates that played in Brisbane's prelim winning team tonight, so the stats don't really back up what you're trying to argue. The truth of the matter is that Brisbane have done a fantastic job with trading, drafting and free agency to build this team and the academy influence has been pretty minimal. Here's the breakdown:

11 - Open draftees
5 - Trade ins
3 - Academy draftees
2 - F/S draftees
1 - Free agent

And twin F/S next year isnt it ?

Are they getting someone called Ashcroft ?

Yep, apparently Levi Ashcroft was in the change rooms after the game and he would have been burning up inside, desperate to join his big bro and become a part of this amazing group

You can watch him on YT - he’s every bit as good as Will but more of a crafty goal kicker than…he’s going to hit the AFL like a torpedo next year!

The league has been warned…Ashcroft 2.0 is in the lab and almost ready to be released 😂

Should be winning the Premiership in all honestly, they have by far the best most balanced list in the league, and their getting Levi Ashcroft in the draft this year cheap as a F/S who is a top 3 player in the current draft crop.

‘Should be winning’ is such a lazy narrative…C Scott has won 2 in 14 years and Longmire 1 in the same timeframe

I think Richmond fans underestimate what an advantage playing all GFs at home plays - I’m not saying you were lucky to win them, I’m just saying you’re ungrateful for the advantages you enjoyed along the way

I have no doubt if 2017 was played at Adelaide Oval the Crows would have won.

(They didn’t get to play all their GFs at home.)

My apologies for your confusion…I thought it was implied that I was talking about home ground advantage 🙏

Richmond played at a neutral venue in 2020 as Geelong weren’t at home…their other two GF wins were against non-Victorian sides so they had that advantage for both wins

Is that clearer?

That’s clearer - you did say “playing all GFs at home”, and then referenced their flags.

I agree that it must be nice that they’ll certainly never find themselves at a disadvantage, should they make it!

A lot of shit canning of Hipwood over the years and I haven't checked the stats but thought he stood up in some key moments last night and held his own in some important contests when they needed it and locked it in their half. Didn't let Geelong get an easy exit.

Time to give some massive credit to Brisbane.

1-5 in finals to 2021 and labelled horrendous chokers, they’re now 7-2 in their last 9 finals (which includes a 4 pt loss last year).

Hope they go all the way next week.
Anyone who labelled a young team horrendous chokers for taking time to adapt to finals isn't worth listening to.

Exactly the point I was clumsily trying to make! 😂

I don't believe so, we put the boot into every team we played during our three Grand Final wins. We were going to win no matter what, but this thread isn't about Richmond. It's about Brisbane and the fantastic footy they are playing right now!

Adelaide smashed Richmond at home that year. You may believe what you want, but they are the facts.
