This is is exactly how I feel about BJ. He is a gun, why we aren't offering him 900k over 4 years is beyond me.

Give that man what he wants, he is a proven big game player with amazing ability to execute under duress. Both North & Essendon have a pressing need to improve in this area.

Sell him the dream of a flag and give him 900k or whatever gets the deal done.

Exactly right mate. Any time you can get a player who was at a point in time not so long ago considered the best player in the comp, nearly winning GFs off his own boot, you do what you gotta to get him, by any means necessary

From St.kilda? I actually think he'd be a good fit with his engine and clean hands. Bell definately has potential but i think curnow has shown more to date.

Update: Cheynee Stiller, James Hawksley, Sam Sheldon, Bryce Retzlaff, Brad Harvey and Josh Dyson have all been delisted from the Brisbane Lions today.
This would mean the saints (who are interested in Hawksley) can pick him up for free.

Clearly Garlett is too small for midfield. He would be smashed. And as for Bell ahead of Curnow... thats just silly.

He plays in the midfield in the sense that he is a half forward that pushes up the ground.

I highly doubt that he will ever be a pure midfielder.

No, he is the other variety of free agent. You could sign him after the trade period.

I doubt it. I would think only players acquired from true free agency would affect the net benefit you get

GIven Hawksley wouldn't be taken under FA - he would have zero effect on any compensation.

St Kilda will get a 1st round draft pick for Goddard, unless you happen to snag another star

Immediately delisted. I love kosi as much as the next bloke.. but 5 touches a game and "contesting" doesn't cut it.

Just want to follow up on the post above with something I didn't realise had been brought in'

I didn't know about the delisted player FA that runs from Nov 1 to Nov 13 - I still don't think it will affect the Goddard deal, but what a great addition from the AFL.

These guys have already had to go through a draft and possibly be sent across the country at a whim. Being able to remove themselves from the draft uncertainty by going straight to another club of their choice is a great idea.

Does anyone know whether these guys can go on the rookie list? or does it have to go on the main list?

Does anyone have any particular reason to think Hawksley can play? i havn't seen any quality from him...
