Live 2008 Presidential election thread - McCain v Obama

Yeah another close one there, but will it prove important? I doubt it now with more results coming in.

McCain has just streaked ahead in Nebraska so that was over. It would only be important in the sense that the landslide would be Goldwater-esque.

Which of the networks historically calls the result first?

I'd assume FOX if it was a Republican victory, but in other cases?
Someone on the BBC mentioned that Fox tended to be calling a number of the states very early.

Someone else then quipped that it was so they could get all this out of the way as quickly as possible.

:D:D

President-Elect Barack Obama...

Oh man, Republicans are cry babies when they lose. For warmongering hicks, conservatives really are soft. Bolton and that Coloradan Republican had a big sook!

I used the interview as an excuse for a toilet break and come back to find Bolton tearing into the host network.

He really is an obnoxious git.

He is taking things brilliantly, isn`t he? :D

Should we keep an eye on Nebraska as well? Little over 1000 votes in it.

no, it doesnt matter. with the win in ohio, iowa and new mex, obama has picked up 32 EC votes from the 2004 result. with guaranteed D states on the west coast contributing 74 EC votes, that takes Obama over 270 to 279 if everything else plays out the way it did in '04. add florida and its a romp.

shut up shop. good arvo peoples.

END.

lol at people saying 2004 was rigged because of the result of a football match.

Looks like Obama is home. A depression may not be far away. Funny thing is many of the Latino vote is going for Obama when its Bush/McCain who favour amnesty. Much like Howard here having massive intake of immigrants from Asian countries being much of the reason he lost his own seat.

Now wait for President Obama and his supporters to interpret any criticism of him over the course of his first term as racism.

About as bitter as Wayne Swan in 2004
You must be mistaking me for a Labor supporter.

Assuming of course that the comment above is even relevant to this discussion - which it isn`t.
