Universal Love Lou Richards passes away (all tributes to the legend)

Vale Lou... love you or hate you, you brought more to the game of Australian Rules Football than just about anyone else. My most sincere condolences go out to the Richards and Pannam families. He has finally gone to join his beloved Edna in the afterlife.

My mum and I were just talking about Lou and the rest of his family and she made the admission that in her youth, my Nanna used to know all the Pannams, the Richards and a lot of the Collingwood players of that era. In fact, she apparently had the chance to marry Phonse Kyne, but ended up marrying my grandfather (which is good for me I suppose).

PS: I don't think that the loss on the weekend would have worried Lou all that much, he would have revelled in the game and loved every minute of it... such was his love of football!

Oh ****. Truly an absolute legend of not just Collingwood, but the game as a whole regardless of what the muppets at the AFL say. Collingwood premiership captain, great commentator, great TV personality and great football person. RIP Lou.

Rest in peace Lou. What a great life you lived. You brought a lot of happiness to people from all walks of life, and supporters from all clubs. You will be missed.

Legend of the game, legend. Condolences to his family, friends, and the greater Collingwood family for his passing.

Was doing footy showmanship on TV twenty years before the Footy Show, true character that always got people involved.

"The Lip" Lou Richards. Bloody tough rover and a champion player. The first media man of football. Now happily re-united with Jack Dyer and Bobby Davis. Called it as he saw it and pulled no punches. Not a bad sort of a player/writer/bloke/TV man/columnist for a Collingwood man.

We love you Lou. Thanks for making all my Sunday mornings and lunchtimes with my Dad watching World of Sport or the Sunday Footy Show so very special!

Deepest sympathy to the Richards family and friends and to the Collingwood Football Club and it's supporters.

An icon of the game - a wonderful sense of humour, great commentator and truly loved our unique game.

Sad day for football

A real legend of the game a great legacy he leaves behind, any of these ex players in the media owe a lot to Lou and Jack Dyer, as for the classic nicknames for the players all thanks to Lou
RIP
