bahaha, wtf.
your post shows how Clueless Melbourne supports are about all things football.
Luke Hodge only won in front of Ablett because the hawks as a team won on the day, alot of experts said Ablett deserved it in 2008.
Fail. the best thing is even with all your undeserved #1 draft picks Melbourne will always be a failure

That is ridiculous.

Hodge was given the award by experts.

You don't have to win the GF to get the NS. Take Buckley in 2002 for example.

You fail again, seethus.

dont be stupid, 5 premierships and 8 GFs in 9 years is amazing... this geelong team could definately not be considered greater than that after 3 GFs and 2 Premierships in 3 years (and probably another GF this year)

the greatest side of all time atm is the lions.Hawks would be the next best of recent times than geelong, however if geelong win the premiership this year they overtake the lions and are the greatest sife ver to play the game

amature premierships dont mean as much as profesional premierships. Its like comparing VFL premierships today to the afl premiership is just chalk and cheese

How the would you know what it felt like to win flags in the 80's? 90's? 70's? etc.

Trust me, it's been much better watching my team win flags decade after decade.

when hathorn won those flags the game just wasnt the same.It was palyed by a bunch of amatures who just wanted to have a bit of fun with their mates.

while hawthorn did very well to win all those flags you have to put into perspective that they were given an extremly productive zone that would of handed any club many premierships over that time.

for example say zoning was still going on geelong would have a midfield of ablett, bartel, sellwood, hodge, ling and have borwn up forward. How could we not win at least 5 flags ?

You've missed the point. YOU WOULDN"T KNOW WHAT IT FELT LIKE TO WITNESS YOUR TEAM WIN A FLAG IN THOSE DAYS, YOUR TEAM WAS SHITHOUSE FOR SOOOOO LONG.

How many players were recruited from our zone when we beat you in 89?

You always had access to that sort of talent, you were just shit at developing it with your shocking culture.

you didnt have to develop player back than it was just a bit of fun, it was social thing and nothing more.you had your chance to gain some respect last year and you blew it

Luke Hodge only won in front of ablett because .... wait.... he deserved it more than him??? surely not... please state said experts who said Ablett deserved it MORE than hodge in 2008?
Fail. How can you claim an draft pick is undeserved??? are you familiar with the system whereby the worst teams get the highest picks???? and dont give me that tanking crap, you can claim we were tanking but in reality we just were terrible...
The best thing is all of our undeserved draft picks look to be capable of becoming star players!!
I dont know what youre problem is?? Ablett ISNT comfortably the best, but he is the best...
or is it completely impossible that there might be a player to challenge abletts ability???

He was hopeless in 2007, slightly better in 2009 but still well beaten.

In 2008 he was good but got hurt on the rebound by his head to head opponent (Bateman, who had 2 goal assists and 1 goal).

Has never played well in a premiership, probably because you have to get an opponent in a Grand Final. It's more accountable footy.

The only time he went well was when Hawthorn didn't tag him, in the 2008 GF, but even then you can debate that Bateman actually beat him head to head.

Silly arguement this one, Ablett is regarded by 90% of all football people as the best player in the comp, Hodge is regarded as the best by about 5% (Hawks trolls)

(Log in to remove this ad.)

last year in the herald sun footy survey the largest survey their is on afl football ablett was votted the best player in the game by over 50% of respondets , the next best was judd with about 10%

warning what i am about to say will make hawthorn supporters so angry they will not sleep tonight
ablett vs hodge
the media choose= ablett :)
the players choose=ablett:)
the fans choose =ablett:)

That was last year, when Hodge wasn't playing well due to injury and being played at CHB.

In 2008 he was proclaimed the most important player in the comp by Nathan Buckley. When the Grand Final came, Hodge stepped up, while Ablett choked.

And this year he leads Ablett in the coaches and Age awards. Maybe the Herald Sun award too, I haven't checked.

Hodge has proven over time his body is not strong enough to stand strong physical contact, hence the reason he is always injured (according to Hodgepodge anyway)

Ablett was part of the problem that day. He sure got his hands on it a lot, but was unable to set up a single goal assist for his side.

Also unable to break the lines.

Shouldn't have got votes ahead of Stewart Dew.

This is just getting silly. Lets just settle this now.

We'll keep our Hodge, and you keep your Ablett*.

There, now everyone's happy :)
