It usually takes a good few years for champion players to come good and make those who piled on look foolish.

It took Luke Jackson 8 weeks.

Thanks for the laughs guys.

he can't mark. double grabs or drops a lot of marks.
Already seeing great improvement in his marking over 8 rounds, don't think it'll be a problem

+ His footy smarts have been great when going forward, little blocks, handballs over the top, smothers, 1-2s.

Thought this kind of impact was years away tbh

To be fair, melb fans have seen a lot more of Jackson than Freo fans. We're definitely a fickle sport. It was only a few weeks ago when he was the most criticised player in the afl. He'll be a handy player. Dees fans knew that which is why we wanted fair compensation. Whether we got it or not is undecided.

To be fair, many of you Freo posters were amongst the harshest pile on crew of Jackson in his first 5-6 weeks or so in Freo colours.

Ditto same for your fans who wanted Longmuir sacked a month ago (and BTW same reason I am annoyed and frustrated at my fellow Carlton brothers and sisters wanting Voss sacked)

I recall saying after the trade happened it would take Jackson 6-8 weeks to acclimatise to a new coach and playing group at Freo.

Impatience and demand for immediate results is the worst trait amongst footy fans (of all clubs I should add)

Pretty Happy to see Jackson and Freo rising (and West Coast sinking:) )

Are you suggesting he’s a champion?
Seriously though I have always said he’ll be a gun. What we did in his first couple of seasons was pretty amazing for a ruck. That’s why we basically got the best we could from Freo.

Freo supporters very chirpy all of a sudden
Think you'll find that we are all in shock at how good dogga has been the last 3 weeks, most of us who were reasonable thought this was 3 years away or a possibility to never happen (aka we bought him on projected value, not known quantity)

Ofc supporters should be pleasantly surprised right now

Realistically we should still end up with a top 10 pick on top of last years first and this years second. Although it was looking like a possible top 5 that seems unlikely.
I could be wrong about this, but after academy’s and bids I think Freo would have to finish about 12th for you to get a top 10 pick. The way they have turned it around suggests they might finish higher than that. Rose coloured glasses I know.

The reaction to 2-3 games of Jackson getting familiar in his new digs was pathetic by many Freo people. The moaning about the price was even moreso. It was a fair price I thought. I was able to ignore it on the BF Board for the most part but at our games it was harder too and was maddening. All clubs have those types but I hate it much more when they're on my side. :)

From highly optimistic to highly pessimistic I think you guys will end up with pick 5 to 15 with it more likely being in the 7-11 rage which I think would be a pretty fair result. From there it's up to Melbourne to make the most of the pick.

I was one of not many who was unperturbed about us finishing bottom 4 when we were struggling and what that meant for your pick. I would've hated finishing bottom 4 but the pick had nothing to do with that. It's your pick now so where we finish doesn't matter to us in terms of the draft pick it's sunk cost.

Obviously it matters to the D's fans who will continue to barrack against us as I would in your shoes but in terms of what it does to the pick it shouldn't matter to us, its gone. My bigger worry if we finished bottom 4 with our current list would be what that meant for us in terms of the coach, gameplan, player retention etc.

Thankfully it doesn't seem that likely at this stage but even if we did, I think Jackson for last years pick and a top 5 this year plus the finge stuff was still fine to give you guys value for a guy like Jackson.

There’s potentially I’d say 2-3 academy picks in top 10?? I guess we don’t have access to them in any event. But yes the actual pick could be pushed out of top 10.

Close to the most valuable player in the AFL.

ill allow it ken jeong GIF

Massive overs for Jackson. Hasn’t established himself as a first ruck worthy of multiple R1 picks or as a young key forward. Contract likely overpaying too.
Action Jackson is an absolute weapon, we got him cheap mate.

19 disposals, 4 marks, 1 contested mark, 15 hitouts and one goal.

He had a decent game, but you'd think he was the reincarnation of Polly Farmer or Simon Madden the way Freo supporters now reference him.

I'm convinced you've never seen him play before.

Grundy also had 19 disposals, 4 marks, 3 contested marks, 20 hitouts and one goal. But his was just an average game.
