Mark Bickley - ROT IN HELL

Yeah it was a filthy low act, the sort we used to applaud back in the good old days.
Bickley will go for four and probably retire, delighting Port supporters, which will be a sad end to a great career.
As a Port supporter, yes you've lost Wakelin, but I would also be concerned as to what's going to happen to Burgoyne, Francou (does what he did constitute a gouge?) and Montgomery who punched Burton in the face. If the AFL takes the hard (but inconsistent) line they have in the past, those guys could be in strife for a couple of weeks.
Macca stop it, you're looking very bitter and twisted.
Celebrate your win and the greatness that your side seems destined for...if it doesn't get knocked out in straight sets.
Francou, much to my distaste, was great; Tredrea was fantastic and Matthew Bishop has developed into a great defender.
Besides the fact you have won 12 showdowns now, those are the things you should be taking out of the game.

Well you kinda did. :D

"Both teams basically State teams with far greater concessions than the Great Club Team, Port Adelaide."

I was referring to their status as a "Great CLub" prior to their entry into the AFL. Port certainly cannot proclaim "greatness" in the National form of the game at this point in time. I think you need to actually win a Final first... ;) :D

Bickley will get a couple but to call him dirty and to tell him to rot in hell is ridiculous. He is a fair player with a clean record.
Port have been dishing it out for years and when something relatively minor compared to what port have done over the years occurs , everyone carries on about it !

The continued good form of our youngsters and another narrow loss to Port meaning revenge if we come up against them in the finals as well.

Yep, it was the younger brigade of Ladhams, Bode, Biglands & Doughty that showed the way for The Fruit Tingles yesterday. McLeod looked disinterested and Johnson looked like he'd been on the nest for a week! The absence of 'Fred' Basset from the Crows back 6 hurt them badly - McGregor yet to convince me he's an AFL-standard player (he shoulda stuck to cricket...).

Good to see Smart live up to his own pre-match fanfare... What a fuggen BATH he copped from Tredrea and how SWEEEEEEEET it was... :D

You must be talking about another League here Eastaugh36.. What dispicable acts have involved Port players in the AFL???

Nowhere near as bad as Mcleod or Shaun Burgoynes bumps earlier this year. Where Mcleod and S Burgoyne were running the opposite direction then jumped to bump into the players....Peter Burgoyne was stationary and then semi jumped. They were different types of incidents and because Burgoyne wasnt running towards Mcgregor when he bumped him i dont think it will be a report. Should of been a 50 tho.

Francou (does what he did constitute a gouge?)

I wouldnt think so. You look at that then you gotta look at Doughty kneeing James in the head in the first quarter as well.

and Montgomery who punched Burton in the face.

Probably get a week. Wasnt a hard punch...on the replay it looks like he actually missed him with the punch so he musta flicked him pretty hard in the eye or something. Then again...if you look at Burgoynes bump why not look at Burtons as well? Players have been reported and suspended for similar bumps in the past.

If the AFL takes the hard (but inconsistent) line they have in the past, those guys could be in strife for a couple of weeks.

If they take the inconsistent line then the Bickley case will be thrown out, Montgomery will get three weeks, Francou 6 and Burgoyne 1.

Macca stop it, you're looking very bitter and twisted.

Sorry for being bitter at our best defender missing the finals thru a dog act.

Celebrate your win and the greatness that your side seems destined for...

I would of prefered a loss yesterday if it meant we had Wakelin for the finals.

Please enlighten me on when the last time a Power player hit someone like that??

Please show me the relevance of what happened yesterday to what happened 20 years ago in a different league??

it doesnt matter what league. It is the fact that most power fans are magpie fans and they are carrying on about bickley when magpie players have been doing far worse than that for years, now they know what its like to be on the receiving end and they dont like it

Yes, it DOES fuggen matter.. Funny how The Power are part of the Port Magpies ONLY when it suits.. I suppose The Power can lay claim to have won 34 Premierships in their 6 years, based on your idiotic logic!??!

And anyone who thinks that Grave Danger smashing Cornesy wasn't champagne comedy, they have no sense of humour... :D

(tongue in cheek, if you hadn't noticed..) :p

Come off it Macca,
You would have preffered a loss yesterday than to lose Wakelin?
You can't hate Bickley that much.
Sure it shouldn't have happened, but Wakelin can be replaced.
It's not Port's defence, albeit good, that has them at the top but their overall team play.

This is the most ridiculous view ive heard.
You didnt like the rough stuff that the Lions put on against the Bombers two weeks ago...yet the Bombers had been doing that for years too. Makes you sound like a hypocrite.

No ! This is nothing to do with whether the clubs have an association together or not. It is to do with supporters and it is FACT that most power fans are magpie fans. You cant deny it.

Its got nothing to do with Bickley when i said that. Id prefer to have Wakelin for the rest of the year and lost yesterday. Losing Wakelin sours the win...just like losing Paxman in the last game last year soured that win. I dont want to see what happened last year when we lost our no1 defender on the doorstep of the finals and our defence cracked at the seams because of it.

Wakelin has been beaten by only one player this year - Neitz. I dont think any other forward has kicked more than 3 goals on him this year other than Neitz.
It throws a spanner in the works which was unneccesary.

Bickleys was one incident in the game. Apart from that there wasnt anything else unlike the lions game where there were numerous incidents. I agree Bickley deserves to go for it but I wouldnt call him dirty or tell him to rot in hell. I have seen players reported for more aggressive and deliberate acts than his. I think if it wasnt for the broken jaw then this would be receiving far less publicity.

I am indeed a Magpies fan as well. I don't condone on-field thuggery and anyone who does is an @$$hole, in my honest opinion. I think you may be generalising a bit here eastaugh36.. There is bad in all supporters from all Clubs. Heck, back in the old days of the SANFL, the Centrals cheersquad used to come to Alberton with dead Magpies impaled on the ends of garden stakes!! We weren't sick enough to retaliate with dead Bulldogs... ;) :D ;)

Big call. Who do you support, hmmmmm?

Geez Pred, I'm just trying to salvage a positive out of all of this for the beloved Port Power C 1870.

I follow Brisbane, now that you ask. That's just the sort of people we are. Caring.

Bickley is a hard & at times reckless player but he does not deserve this type Granger type heading,

And did Granger end another team's number 1 defender's dream of playing in a premiership team? I don't think so. What a low act.

It WAS in the (so-called) Granger class, and Bickley will from now be seen by Port supporters in the same light as Granger is seen by non-Port supporters. A hard player, Bickley has often been seen to go in knees-first, though nothing like this.

He has been a great player and leader for the Crows who has played very hard. Though stupid and unlikely to have been pre-meditated, this one act will change how he is viewed in the future. I suspect that he is extremely upset with himself.

Unfortunately portly, Granger ended Twiggy Caldwell's season (and career) in 1982 (by memory) when he kicked out at Cornes and collected Caldwell's leg, snapping both the bones across his shin.. Twiggy was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it was a low act from Grave Danger which ended his career.. If he had connected with Cornes, all would have been forgiven.. ;)

Macca speaks for most Port supporters and how we are feeling today (and yesterday) about the Bickley/Wakelin clash. I don't think Macca gives a rats ar$e whether the topic credits or discredits him, to be quite honest. He speaks his mind and there ain't any laws against that! It is a hot topic in footy right now and deserves passionate discussion.. All opinions welcome - even from low-down, chardonnay-sipping, scrawny-necked, unknowledgable Crows supporting scum ! :D

PS; Anyhow, any non-Carey talk is talk worth indulging in.. ;)

I still find it funny that there's a Francou and two Cornes' playing for Port Adelaide (and possibly a Pavlich).
