Yeah this is terrible timing for the Saints with Goddard (and maybe Freo with a few players) as Caro said today on Adelaide radio that we are right in the middle of the GWS recruiting period. Precisely why 2 coaches should never have the same management. Direct conflict of interest in this case, and well done to Lyon for taking it on himself.

Amazing how there were no leaks the one time player managers were out of the loop.

I would say Fremantle need to start having this harshness. We don't have to be bullies or absolute connivers, but we have to utilise situations.

He took this team from nothing to being on the cusp of great success, and is sacked when Freo is about to scale the heights and finally be a force in the AFL.


He was just too nice for a ruthless club like Fremantle.

Dog move by Freo. I don't know if I would be happy if I was a freo fan to be honest.

Harvey finally had them looking good last year, a young exciting team on the rise which was crippled by a mass of injuries this year. Lyon has gotten the Saints to two grand finals, but he plays ugly, negating football and has a policy of recycling dud players and trying to make them something. So far, this hasn't worked for him. I preferred the way Harvey was going with youth and attacking football.

These stunts are the reason why Fremantle deserve to keep failing.

Lyon would have informed his management and they would have advised of a conflict of interest.
There would have been talk there for sure and they should have advised Lyon to go his own way.

Lyon is not a complete fool.
