To me it seems a gameplan for a team at the pointy end that have seriously good players to execute as if you can keep the ball and transition it then you dictate the play. Maybe in a few years time when our high end kids have the required game experience but it seems like we are in for some real pain as supporters with it now
It reminds me of the stuff Port dished up 4-5 years ago?

It appears Jones might have played the tagger role last Friday. Low on possession but high on CBA

Theres no way Chayce was in the guts 22 times. Typo by Freako I reckon. For some reason he was playing mostly half forward and also wing. Had a couple CBAs too but not 22.

Very good point. I have no doubt we are in for some serious pain this year.

Personally I’m looking forward to it. The sooner we hit rock bottom and work out exactly how we work our way back from there the better

The pain won’t be fun but it will be useful

Yeah has to be an error. There were only 22 center bounces in total (after 18 goals + start of each quarter). Didn't see Jones in the circle very often, however he frequently lined up on the wing

Our link up work is garbage because our forward line coach stinks.

I don't understand the logic of our footy club. Initially Hart said he was leaving for family reasons to look for work in Melbourne and got no offers (real shocker that one). He then decides to stay at Adelaide where he was rumoured to be moving to the SANFL side but then Francou bailed and the club just threw him the forward coach role instead. So one second we're just letting the guy stroll out the door, next second he's got one of the toughest, most important roles at the club.

I think the forward line coach is near the least of our worries. It’s up to Nicks and the other coaches to work out a way to get it in there before defences can flood back and also with some decent execution. Hart was blamed for the terrible coaching of Pyke/Campo/Godden last year, he may be a failure, but there was guaranteed failure feeding his group. Even then, Pyke and Campo would have designed his system and selected the players that worked in it. Anyone who believes a line coach had any say at our club lives in la la land. It was the Burto/Pykeo/Campo show, everyone else just shut up and smiled.

Doesn't help to have a dunce though.

Have you ever followed one?

Wouldn’t have mattered either way. Even the best forward coach in the land would have looked terrible. Teague simply chose to leave when seeing the writing on the wall. Reckon Hart is >50% to be terminated end of this season, but I’m 100% certain that the blame he cops for forward line failings was entirely outside of his control. He controlled nothing.

Hart in theory had control of our forward line which was a shambles under him... but didn't help our slow movement game plan & attitude sucked.

It's never good to have a dunce in charge!

He was a subordinate to the Campo/Pykeo shit show. He was in charge of nothing.
So what is the point of having assistant coaches then... to pay superannuation to ex players?

I'm sure he's just a bit rusty, but Milera has been one of my biggest preseason disappointments this year. I just feel like the intensity is really down with him.

I think he's going to need a fair run on the HBF to get his form/intensity back before we throw him in the guts.

EDIT: But yes, we should get him in the rotation as soon as he's ready!

He wouldn't be the first player to sign a decent size contract and drop off a bit.

After seeing us on Friday I honestly think we're a bottom 4 side and potentially at risk of winning our first ever wooden spoon.

Provided that we actually spend a majority of the season developing our list then it won't bother me where we finish.

However, if we spend 2020 clinging on to the past (like we always seem do) and only give young players a few token games at the end of the year then I'll be pissed.

Just rip the band aid off right from the start !!!!

It says Brad Crouch 16, M Crouch 13 and Sloane 12 were our leaders so the 22 was a typo. Probably meant 2.

I know it’s only the preseason and things change, but we were right up there with the least impressive teams.

Throw in the fact we are trying to bed down a new game plan that’s just not going to click from rd 1 because the seasons started, plus we’ve got limited depth due to the previous coaches negligence, then there isn’t a lot to look forward to besides hopefully watching the kids develop. Let’s wait until we see how long we persist with Gibbs and whether Mackay’s picked.

Freo, Saints and Melbourne who were below us will be better than us this year. Then it’s just a matter what Gold Coast, Sydney and North do to how low we finish.

I think the good news is Nicks was a coach at 2 teams that consistently prioritized blooding youngsters (Port and GWS). If he brings anything from those gigs I hope its a new found faith in fast-tracking raw talent, as opposed to our steadfast dedication to bumping the total games numbers for middling veterans!
