True but Ross was a very talented kid, if I remember rightly he did his knee but he was a big, strong, agile kid with a decent kick. Plus he loved his piss and get into scraps, he was Russell Crowe before Russell Crowe was Russ
Wasn't alone in that in those days, he was probably a few years too late.

There were some very handy league footballers both here and Victoria that weren't much different

I knew Lester Ross his father quite well in another life he also loved a beer or two or three as well.

Yeah you'd think these days there would be some questions to weed out the Jonathon Ross' of the football world.

Do you like getting on the piss and picking fights (yes/no)

Those were the days

Pretty sure both you and I can count numerous, extremely talented young footballers and cricketers from country areas who never made the step to the big smoke because they loved beer too much
Yet Lester Jr never seemed to have issues from memory?

Very decent footballer too.

I get that but in the same step I can think of 10 players in the local league who were better players than say Nick Daffy but most of those guys hit the cans hard and didn't want to move
One of the best footballers I've ever seen play the game Trevor 'Lungs" Grantham is a case in point.

As a kid growing up in Pt.Augusta we all idolised Central Augusta's Lungs Grantham, he dominated the Spencer Gulf FL as a youngster as much as the likesof Barrie Robran, Graham Cornes, Kevan McSporran etc but was a real lad and never took the game as seriously as those three did hence when he was invited down to play with Norwood he didn't last too long. Came back to the Port and absolutely dominated again playing as a ruck/forward. All round outstanding sportsman, also a very quick fast bowler. Always had times for us Centrals juniors and often came out to training to help us with our skills, great fella.

Passed away earlier this year.
