Nah, just what you'll start seeing around here more I think. People need to delude themselves into thinking that we're the victims of some sort of conspiracy so that they can justify closing ranks and falling in line again.

I saw someone post 'AFC vs everybody' or something similar recently- what a joke. As if we have any interest in common with our club's administration which has wilfully abused us and which is directly responsible for our misery. But yeah, let's close ranks with those guys and say it's all the mean victorians faults.
Aw shucks, AFC vs everybody was me. Thanks for then mention. Stolen slogan mind you.

No delusion here btw. We've been hammered from every direction since the 17 GF. The on and off field changes we've seen in the past week are significant. Still some bad apples but I'm ready to go in to bat for the club now.

I'm not going to make any big calls about it- I don't really know him enough and it's kind of a 'let's judge on the results' situation (if only our club ever did the same).

Still his resume doesn't exactly knock me dead, part of me is deeply concerned about trying to pick fruit from the Ken Hinkley coaching tree...
We could have gotten Hawthorn Clarkson intellectual property, and instead we are getting Port Hinkley and GWS Cameron intellectual property. This is not to say Nicks won't be a brilliant coach, but this is a fact.

But GWS Cameron has clarkson intellectual property.

Hawks havent won a final since 2015 despite topping up relentlessy. No one would tip them to make a run any time soon, they are likely to be a middling 6-12 team until Clarkson retires. Recent premierships have been the result of not just good trading, but drafting. Their young talent is some of the worst in the AFL, yet Clarkson is seen as some coaching standard by which all other coaches are compared to.

Chris Scott doesn't get any credit yet his winning percentage is a lot higher than Clarskons, who was barely better than Pykes (1.3%).

Most long term coaches tend to have sides peter out like that though - Sheedy in the 2000's is one example that springs to mind.

I can't help but wonder (without number figuring each move) at the difference between PA player trading and our at AFC. Rightly or wrongly PA are dynamic in making things happen. They perennially finish below us and yet routinely seem to trade/select better than AFC. By comparison our list development seems fairly ordinary. There ain't much excitement.
Is this perception or reality though?

Yes, they seem to get the better "names" but if, as you said they perannialy finish below us, doesn't that mean that they don't actually trade, recruit or develop that well at all (at least compared to us)?

In the end, they're a small club that relies on headlines and good news stories to keep them relevant in SA where clearly we rule the media coverage. It's a $$ game, and compared to us, they struggle for the corporate dollar in SA. There's no doubt they take that into consideration when they target players. But in the end, results on the field is the only thing that members want in the long run...

And you expected what exactly? Don't hold your breath waiting for the media to cover the appointment of a coach nobody's heard of to a club nobody in Victoria gives a shit about.
My point exactly. But the AFL is suppose to be a national comp not a Vic comp but lets not go down that debate again.
