If that's the case, let's hope Hawthorn finish 18th.Word in Perth is Fyfe to Saints is a done deal.
Freo could have plenty of cap space to throw around if that's the case.

Freo aren't going to trade Pick 1 for McGovern. He's good, but not Pick 1 good.
Also, if Fyfe does go to St Kilda I expect it will be as a FA. Yes, Freo could match, but I doubt they will if the cost is $1.5m/season.
Except if they match then Fyfe can simply take the Freo contract. So Freo have to be certain that they're willing to pay that amount if they decide to match.I think the matching is more about forcing a trade that will net you something better than the compensation pick, not trying to force the player to stay when he doesn't want to. Similar to us with Dangerfield, although that never got to the point of having to formally match it, they just bypassed that process and went straight to the trade part.
Fyfe is from WA.Doesn't surprise me if he goes to a Melbourne club, sometimes the lure of home is too strong to resist - look at Kurt Tippett.
Fyfe is from WA.
It's a joke Jenny. Tippett went to Sydney, not "home" to Qld.

In the Dangerfield situation Geelong could not afford to put in a Godfather $1m+ offer, so they were forced to trade for him. Putting up a $800k/year offer would have been a waste of time as the Crows would have matched it without blinking (and likely had offered Danger more than $800k/year in previous offers).
Yes but Tippett wasn't from SA. He was going home (wherever the **** that was). Fyfe isn't a similar situation. If you are going to make a joke... make sure it's actually funny! It's a joke Jenny. Tippett went to Sydney, not "home" to Qld.

But as an upgrade from pick 16-18 to pick 1 or 2... He is worth thatFreo aren't going to trade Pick 1 for McGovern. He's good, but not Pick 1 good.

It's gone suspiciously quiet on the Gov rumors... but I suppose Jurnos hate writing about players looking to love clubs

Except that, if they matched, Fyfe could just sign the contract and they'd be stuck with Fyfe at $1.5m/year.But as an upgrade from pick 16-18 to pick 1 or 2... He is worth that
My post was in response to the Dockers having cap space if Fyfe leaves.Oh look, its Nostradamus.
I don't think he is. There is a world of difference between pick 16-18 and pick 1-2.But as an upgrade from pick 16-18 to pick 1 or 2... He is worth that
Well stuff it, we play hard ball and try and extract that. Chuck in a second if we need.I don't think he is. There is a world of difference between pick 16-18 and pick 1-2.
The average number of games played for a pick 1-2 is miles higher than the average number of games played for a pick 16-18.
Even the average pick 1's tend to be pretty decent. The average 16-18's can play a handful of games and then get delisted.
