Whatever it is, it looks like it has certainly done something for Walker. He looked the most relaxed, confident, self assured he has looked for 3 years. He looked free in movement, and his goalkicking was back to natural (although possibly being injury free may have a lot to do with this as well).

Glad someone mentioned this, his kicking for goal was dead straight and his post match interview Thursday night compared to any he did last year was like night and day. No ums and ahs, no slight stutter or spoonerisms. I haven't seen him this confident and relaxed since his first game as captain.

It is time to move on.... But the media won't
This article was pretty well written by Caro. She has some direct sources and heat protected the anonymity of those not happy. But has not gone tabloid and opinionated about a mass exodus from our club.

I look forward to reading and hearing the drivel that gutter rats like Rucci come up with.

I'm not so sure about that. It pretty much pinpoints Betts as the player that had an issue with it, both being blindfolded and being unable to contact his wife.

Could "Time to move on" replace "We fly as one" eventually? We seem to trot it out awful quick whenever one of these controversies pops up.

That article makes for awkward reading. Don't quite know how to take all of it. Unsure if it was a confronting but ultimately galvanising experience for the players. Or a preseason jumped the shark moment.

Fairly balanced article about the camp.

I think the club knows it made a mistake here and won't be doing something similar again.

Time to move on.

I agree. Sometimes you try things and they don’t work out as planned.

But it sounds like the club has avenues for players to air their grievances and that they are aware of concerns from both players and coaching staff. It actually sounds like the structures are set up correctly.

The only problem here would be if the do it again.

I think the ‘time to move on’ might be a bit out of context. If players aired their grievances back in late Jan after the camp, the club would have been dealing with this for two months. In that context, it is time to move on.

Reckon it's a 'jumped the shark' pre-season myself. I can see value in a person seeking out self-development experiences. Even when it's unsubstantiated empowerment nonsense, people can find something there that makes them re-evaluate themselves or whatever. But you've got to be looking for it. I think it oversteps the mark for an employer to demand that you participate in this sort of stuff, especially if it's going to dabble in disorientation and emotional disruption techniques. I'd be interested to know how informed the consent was.

This has obviously been bubbling away under the surface for that whole time. Just because the players didn't run straight to the press or AFLPA straight away doesn't mean it isn't an issue. That they didn't is a credit to them really.

Although perhaps they were reluctant to due to the fallout Melbourne copped rather than it being a sign that the camp was nothing too sinister.

I really struggle with the “Jacobs and Betts” being blindfolded thing... Jacobs was not part of the 12 that went down to Murwillumbah ahead of the others, unless it happened at a different time? The impression I got, was that the 12 in the lead group were the ones subjected to whatever it was they were subjected to.

In Caro's article it said Jacobs and Betts did an abridged version of the 'cult' part of the camp

Just wish these so called journalists would stick to writing about the actual football played and stop hunting around looking to make every little off field titbit they get the whisper about a full blown controversy.
Did you read any of the articles about this? Because unless you're sticking to match reports, that's why they write them.

Of course I read them....journalists looking to make a big thing out of something basically insignificant.

You may not agree, that's fine by me but no way will anything anyone says change my thinking.

There is deadset way too many B grade media involved in sport in this country. The formula is so transparently clear over the last few weeks. Take any slightly negative story you can find, and then keep hammering a bored and apathetic public to as high a level of outrage as you can. If you cant find any actual evidence, don't worry just make some up. It's Today Tonite for sport lovers.
We have actual articles that have been written around Australia about a Crows member that yelled some banter at the Richmond coach about it being harder to win here than at the G. No abuse, no threats, no intimidation, just banter like happens at every sporting event on the planet and yet we have a media trying to make a story without one of them actually caring that it is complete crap. This guy should have an official apology by now.
Now we have a story where Sam Jacobs is supposed to be traumatized despite the fact that he has twice publicly refuted it. Don't worry about that fact, just keep throwing petrol on. Then we get the line "he never confirmed or denied if he had discussed it with his immediate family". Seriously? What he chooses to discuss with his family is not mine nor Caroline Wilson's business, But wait, the next line is "suffice to say there remains deep dissatisfaction among the Betts family", no evidence, no quotes, no source. Just a statement without any evidence to back it up. I can just imagine what would happen if a scientist tried to publish anything with anywhere near this level of conjecture and lack of evidence.

That's a shit piece from Caro. She's obviously got an axe to grind with us. First claiming we are bullying Rucci now refusing to let the camp go away.

So what. Eddie is banging on about it. Maybe Eddie is using it as a bit of an excuse for his declining form.

Everyone else says it was great.

And how about that line "its sad but not unusual that football clubs blame things on wives and partners" hahahahaha. Caro was the freaking one who said it was the wives and partners who leaked to the age. The club hasn't said anything about wives and partners.

Poor form Caro. Lazy journalism.

Ultimately, if it's a "jump the shark" moment, if we manage the fall out well internally it can have positive outcomes ultimately. I would have no confidence if Trigg were in charge?

Caro never writes about football. Never has. She only ever looks for dirt.

The article has some reasonable points but has plenty of stuff that just smacks of trolling.

Keeps using the word "cultish" without any justification or suggestion as to anything that would be vaugely occult. Also when referring to things Chapman said uses the word "admit" rather than "said" or "stated" trying to paint his statement in the pejorative.

It's immature, misleading journalism.
