This sort of stuff shits me no end. It seems like just harmless poor journalism on the surface. But what it actually does is bring fringe nuffie views on social media into the mainstream discussion. "Let's find some controversial fringe view on the internet and report on it for clicks or to sell rags". It amplifies the crazy talk and normalises it. People pick a side, and on it goes with ever more fringe views to stoke outrage. Is there a lazier way to write an article than regurgitating social media comments
It happens with more serious topics also, and before long you end up with a polarised society, with people yelling at each other and unable to have a constructive complex conversation with shades of grey.
TLDR: Articles about West Coast fan Facebook posts will lead to the end of democratic society as we know it.
