Is there a lazier way to write an article than regurgitating social media comments
This sort of stuff shits me no end. It seems like just harmless poor journalism on the surface. But what it actually does is bring fringe nuffie views on social media into the mainstream discussion. "Let's find some controversial fringe view on the internet and report on it for clicks or to sell rags". It amplifies the crazy talk and normalises it. People pick a side, and on it goes with ever more fringe views to stoke outrage.

It happens with more serious topics also, and before long you end up with a polarised society, with people yelling at each other and unable to have a constructive complex conversation with shades of grey.

TLDR: Articles about West Coast fan Facebook posts will lead to the end of democratic society as we know it.

That's exactly what Cornes is saying.
Gives Robbo a big whack here.

This is great!! Love Kane’s response to the muppet show.

I think I have a new found respect for him.

On another topic waiting for Rita Poonani article stating why Reid needs to refuse to go to west coast if we have pick one. Culture! Drugs!

We don't have a salary cap squeeze, a lot of our big contracts are well past their peak so will get smaller subsequent contracts and there's nobody on our list bashing down the door for a big contract.

Why exactly do we need to trade JD as a salary dump?
Haze is as bitter as Pavlich towards the Eagles. Not at all surprising, busted their arses for that gimp team of theirs with nothing to show for it while we calmly won a couple flags.

Rather Darling be on decent coin then having to give that salary to a Rotham or Foley as an example.

Ben Cameron (ABC) used to work with Cornes in Adelaide and he is adamant that whatever you think of Kane, he believes what he says - what you see is what you get.

I do respect that even if much of what he says is nonsense and turned up to create discussion.

Compare him to someone like Barrett and his AFL column which (if he even writes it) is just a collection of whatever can be thought up in 10 minutes that will generate clicks. There's zero authenticity.

I was listening to that discussion (I think?) but I am surprised - I always thought Ben Cameron was local!

As someone who only a couple of years ago used to consume nearly every footy show there was and now try to do the opposite......footy is so much more enjoyable by avoiding the general AFL media altogether. Just watch the games you want and ignore the rest.

I realise the irony of posting this in a media thread
Ditching the seven broadcast also helps alot too. Sure, the Fox commentators are just as biased, but they don't tend to talk as much non footy stuff (because they assume people love their personalities).

He's from Perth. He went East for a while and came back.

He's really not, he's just a bit thick.

I've heard him mention it a couple of times now whenever Kane says something outlandish. And he is! Or was, just moved from Perth to Melbourne I believe and has reunited with Corbin.

Weirdly, there is a heap of ABC callers all around the same age from Perth. Corbin, Cameron, Brett Sprigg and I think someone else.

I'm the same - probably coincided with us being garbage but I'm much happier for it. I don't care about the tribunal unless it affects us or some dumb rule change, dialogue, moronic comment or whatever.

Tbh I've stopped reading news in general unless it's local or affects my job. Covid/Trump was a grim time for the media, with so much poor reporting and pointless noise.

You don't need to participate in the moronic culture wars or end-of-the-world hysterics. No point in getting angry at something designed to make you angry, whatever your beliefs. It's just theatre and I find myself much happier without it.

It's not the refusal to get the jab I cared about, it's his body and he can put or not put what he likes in it.

It was more the fact that he pissed away a whole pre season refusing to take it, then changed his mind at the 11th hour.

I love Jack and think he's a legend of the club who's been very underappreciated throughout his career, but his last 2 years have been woeful.
Jack was just waiting for the Novavax to be released in Australia before getting the jab. Pfizer and Moderna are both mRNA derived vaccines (a newer vaccine production method) whilst Novavax is a protein based vaccine which is the more traditional form of vaccine. He just wanted to wait for that to become available for use in Aus. As soon as it was lo and behold he was back in the fold...

I actually mute my TV when watching on free to air or Kayo. It’s that bad. Chalk and cheese between the level of professionalism between NBA telecasts and AFL. Unless of course you get the home commentators in the NBA then they’re just as biased AF

Yeah, I was gutted to see him leave, but we still have Clint Wheeldon thankfully.

How right you are. The only footy show I listen to nowadays is Schoey's stuff, in particular his Shelter show with Mark Readings.

Hase thinks if we trade JD to Freo, we would have to pay some of his salary and give them a draft pick.
I know Darling has been poor but he'd still be their best forward.

“Is the currency there right now for Jack Darling? I’m not sure Fremantle, who need another key forward, would be that interested right now in Jack Darling unless the terms were in their favour - a massive salary dump and maybe a pick to come with it - because he’s just not performing.

I was always perplexed that Paul Haselby ended up with a job in the media post footy. The way that he grunts and can barely string a sentence together, he's best served on a combine harvester.

No different to Barich holding a job for however long he has… completely bizarre

I would happily mute if I could still get game noises (especially umpire audio).
