Yes. But it is not Bannister. Jordan is rated lowly rather than not rated at all. Once Denis makes up his mind on a player (Norman etc) its going to be a uphill struggle for them.

Well if its not bannister then who is it? As a carlton fan i would like to know, this isnt a official club website so if you know cough up, or is it just a rumour? If there is a player at the club either causing problems or not following the rules, shouldnt the fans know?

Prendergast(unlikely), Wiggins or Chambers would be the best bets.

I'd say it's out of Davies, Wiggins, & Bryan.

Pretty sure it's not Prender- he's played in all the practice matches I think. Chambers has played in 1 or 2.

I still can't believe a coach would say that to a player. Is it a chance it could be someone like Jake Edwards / Paul Bower who won't play because of age/development???

Or is it definetly an older guy?
I disagree. I don't think it's that big of a deal. If we're going to be playing a kid instead of this player, like we should, then I'm 100% fine with it. And can you really be upset with Pagan for being 100% honest and upfront when asked about the realities of the players current situation? At least this way the player gets good notice to start looking at his future outside the club (whether that's with another AFL club or setting up his future in business).

I think this has been blown all out of proportion by people who are just looking for excuses to support the sacking of Pagan.

I agree if it is to play the young guys then great im all for it, as for anyone looking to sack pagan, what are they thinking the guy will lift us, maybe not this year but he will eventually, and anyway we cant afford to sack him and pay him out.

I'd be disappointed if a guy like Wiggins is ruled out completely. Its guys like him who make the others, like Houlihan and Scotland, accountable on the track and on field. He never shirks the issue and stays to his task. Its also demoralising because other players, like Teague, Bannister, Sporn etc, start thinking, there's no way I can stay at this place long-term, so they also stop trying and bring the whole level of competition and accountability down plus the overall mood.

In general, I think the constant talk about our list not being talented enough and this sort of thing with a player being ruled out before the season starts is not going to help build the team's confidence. Without confidence these kids are going to continue panicking on the field and will not back themselves when they should.

But Wiggo doesn't have any talent....We shouldn't kid ourselves

I can't agree with that. I wouldn't mind if he told the player chances are that he won't play any games for the season unless he tries really hard to improve his game (and does improve), but to completely rule out a player is going too far. Fine, play the young kids ahead of the duds, but how about if the player improves enough to warrant a place in our starting 22 (or even 18)? What than?

And for the record, I am completely behind Pagan as coach of Carlton, but I do think he went about this the wrong way.

Funnily enough if I was in charge of team selection this weekend I'd actually pick Wiggins. He was very good late last year as a defensive forward and I think he added something new to the team. With Setanta injuried and unlikely to play I would give the Wiggler his final chance.
agree :thumbsu:
