They underperformed in 2020 and I think they're quietly working away. Nobody seems to be talking about them which I think they'd be happy about.
I can easily see them making the finals.

They would be dreading any sort of hype emerging, but they look a genuine shot for finals.

None of the sides they’ve beaten have been impressive this year (I think they’re collectively 2/9) but you can only beat who you play and dropping games to poor sides has been a habit of Melbourne’s anyway. Good start.

They beat Freo who were horrible on the day.

Beat the saints in round 2 when they had a shocker too.

Beat GWS who are travelling badly at the moment.

Not going to take away anything from the demons. They did enough to beat those sides. One game at a time
All we need is for every opponent to have a shocker and the flag is ours! The Bradbury of the AFL world.

Genuine hope?

We are a finals lock, IMO. Will beat Geelong, then Hawks. Will take on Richmond at 5-0 and finally offering some forward pressure.

Biggest shift for us is better balance inside outside contest and more trust. No more mothing in.

We are also finally in the right age and games played profile to be decent.

Yes that would be interesting. Demon's vs crows in the 2021 grand final and like Richmond of 2017, demon's break the drought as crows will do that deadly Power stance. Lol

You can only beat who's in front of you. Melbourne are definitely doing well and geting the 4 points in the bank early.

Ask again in 3 weeks.

This. If they beat all of Geelong, Hawthorn and Richmond then they are the real deal.

Nothing is ever certain. Finals lock? Not certain. Gotta win those key games.

Saying that...... I don't think the demon's team is an ageing list. I have posted before that they should of snuck in for a finals spot in 2017 and 2020. Would of been interesting had they did. Finals in 2017-18 and 2020 would of made your coach look good

Lucky. An inside tip - he's not good.

Need to come up against one of the top 4 from last year and either win or make a significant effort and hang in until the end if they lose.

Been teased by this team for a while and they've had 3 soft kills so far.

Not to say they haven't been impressive however but Freo's form is Bipolar, Saints got destroyed by a terrible Essendon and GWS have been shite this year plus injuries during the game.

You can only play who you're up against obviously and they've done what's needed but will reserve judgement for a while longer.

Entertaining to watch though.

Ask again in 3 weeks.

Agreed, 6 weeks is generally the time frame most experts give to assess teams into the season where they will be boom or bust.

The emergence of Kossie Pickett however is one of the bright and happy stories of the season so far. He just seems like the spark The Dees have missed in their forward line for a very long time.

Having a very well credential assistant Adam Yze, joining Goodwin in the coaching box can't hurt either.

Good to see the Dees up and about at the moment though.

Not sure we'll win all 3 but if we go 2/3 there I'll be pretty happy.

If you can do the Cats over the lid should be off in my opinion.

Fanbase has more pessimism than ever, reckon we'd have to win all three for the lid to truly be off. Hawks won't be easy either they're well drilled and will likely make our game very scrappy. What was a positive tonight was our lesser players shining when aside from Gawn our guns were meh.

You seem to be very optimistic, considering you’ve beaten us once since 2015....But hey you could be right, to me you’ve done what was required so far, but haven’t yet proved you’re worthy of being seen as a contender.....All 3 of your opponents so far have been injury ravaged in comparison to you guys, as has been mentioned before, your test starts in a weeks time.
