you people must have little idea about football .Last nite he was fantastic and has been pretty good all year he stopped about 4\5 goals last nite and robbins did stuff all.As for pev we all know his disposal isnt great but he has had a very good season would be top 8 in best and fairest.Winders wont play this week and people suggesting bradley are smoking some good shit because we dont need another tall .Players who must do more are lloyd ,mcphee, hille, stanton, slatts,Lloyds kicking has fallen off something shocking and mcphee shit himself 2/3 times last nite could be a good trade at years end.

Here's a memo to you , you need to perform over the whole season to justify staying on the list. Yes he was very good last night. Credit where credits due but it doesnt stop me worrying about the number of times he has been burnt off by quicker small forwards.

PLEASE!!There are a lot more players who will be going before m johnson and i know that as fact.My info is will be offered a 1 year deal in the next few weeks.I understand your opinion with him lacking some pace but sometimes he may look slow due to the ball coming in so much and quick due to our one paced midfield. Can also be very handy up foward

It is all about making a serious decision on our future. We have to make some very hard decisions amd MJ is one of them.I have really loved the way he has played over the years but i am not going to let any sentiment clod my judgment. The facts are he has struggled to control small defenders when playing as a backman this year. It has had nothing to do with how fast the ball is coming in. He has really struggled to keep pace with their leading.
He has done some good things in the middle and was very good last night but he isnt a serious midfield option. He never has been and has always been exposed for speed when he has played in the middle. His best option will be as a forward , i dont disagree with that.
If he is offered a one year deal then so be it but it will only be holding off what should be happening for one year. Holding onto players becasue they are favourites is fraught with danger. You only have to look at the problems Richmond have now to see it. They kept a number of players that they should have moved on when Wallet came on board and now they have wasted two years and are back to square one.
And before nayone jumps up and down and implies that i think we should take the big tank road and get rid of everyone in one go i am not. I am simply saying that while we rebuild our list some tough choices on some of our vetrans need to be made each year.

fair call ant i think 14,17,16,19,21,23,26,28,have had worst year then mj thats were my opinion comes from as you said you cant get rid of everyone what do you think of those numbers i have given compared to mj season.

Well from your list 17,23,26 and 28 would go before MJ. 16 is still in a bit of a grey area and could go in front of MJ. 19 is lucky on two fronts , he has a contract and we are short of ruckmen. 21 is also very lucky he has a contract for next year but in saying that i would look at all trades offered for him.

Mark Johnson has been better than Jason Johnson this year but thats not saying much. I would say his opponent Robbins last night was the perfect match up for him.

Another 1 year contract is fair enough but if he isn't get pushed out of the side next year then we have some serious problems.

The game has changed so much that players like MJ are being exposed.

You can't doubt his heart and courage but you need players that can run and deliver from defence and he can't do either.

I can only see a spot in the forward line for him.

I suppose Mal was moved to the forward line to rove packs. This was one of the few times in the match we looked any good. What more are you expecting of Slattery? Should he be shutting down opponents and getting 30 possesions. I hope your mail is not getting returned.

1 reasonable game.. whoopie doo. He's a senior member of the squad! He should be performing like that at bare minimum every week.

MJ played his best game of the year last nite. I think alot of the criticism of him has been unwaranted as he puts in alot more than others and puts his body on the line continually. I understand the criticism of his lack of pace, but you cant have a team of 22 alwyn daveys! Johnno is a back pocket player, not a midfielder, but has been forced to play out of position in the midfield over the past few seasons due to our lack of midfield depth.

Once our midfield is up and running, and MJ is played as a permanent defender, we will see the same player that we had in 2000, a courageous, reliable backman.

In case you havnt read what i have already said he is now too slow for the back pocket. He has been burnt by a number of quick young forwards this year. He hasnt been playing out of position in the midfield this year. He has spent the majority of his time in defence and has struggled there as well.

We need much more in the engine room, and MJ isnt getting any younger and is slowly declining. What hasnt diminished is his courage, but when the ball is being delivered at top speed, he's left to eat his opponent's dust.

The difference between MJ and JJ is JJ had another interrupted pre season, so not sure if thats as good as it gets for him.

Going back to my first point, its not looking good for him as we still try and get the right mix going forward.

Some tough, but necessary decisions need to be made at the end of the season, or we'll end up like the Carltons and Richmonds of the competition.
