Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

- plenty of guys to go infront of Pearce - never heard of him and i watch far too much youtube of the under 18's.

Well if you have not heard of Pearce I suggest you do some research, he will be a great rebounding defender. Great reader of the play, tough, big bodied, leader and decent kick.

He just has this strange kicking action which makes him look slightly awkward when kicking. I would be slightly shocked if he drifted past pick 24, you would think that two WA teams having 4 picks from 18-24 he should disappear.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

Lack pace? You couldn't be more further from the truth

Essendon are much faster than Carlton

The reason why Essendon would overlook Hurley is because he is too slow off the mark to play FB

yeah but for example the blues have guys who are inside players who can break lines like gibbs and judd. and just to pre-emt a squibbs comment he is a good inside player and developing nicely. your faster players are like lovett, houli and jetta who to me appear to be flankers or wingman. i think you guys need some genuinely speedy engine room players. may be wrong though, dont watch as much of your team as i presume you would, just my perception of things.

Gibbs isn't overly quick
Murphy isn't overly quick
Bentick is very slow
Hadley isn't overly quick

You've really only got Judd as a pacey extractor

There aren't too many genuinely pacey ball extractors in the AFL - Judd and Ablett are the only two I can think of from the top of my head

I don't think its an issue at all considering most of these types of players aren't overly quick, generally speaking. The best clearance/in and under players are (as a rule of thumb) not very fast at all

Mitchell, Black, Bartel, Watson, Harris etc

gibbs is well quick, can run through the lines really well. i dont know or care about what time he does in the 100, on the field his speed stands out for his height. never claimed the other three were overly fast. you guys need zeibell or sidebottom because as you pointed out watson is your best extractor.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

This one took me a while to get, then I noticed you were a Bombers supporter and it all made sense :). It is just rare that you hear the name Mitchell, Black, Bartel and Watson in the same sentence.

What does it matter?

I'm arguing about similar type players and not their abilities

FWIW, Watson's abilities to win a clearance isn't far off from those types, but I do concede as a footballer he is well behind.

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explnations

blight wouldnt slide past wc and freo in the third round. i really would be surprised if he got there at all. struass is the same. definitely in the first three rounds these two.

also, i dont think pearce is worth our pick 21. could be one of the sliders this year. hasnt done that much to merit being taken so early. good, solid player but i doubt he will be any more than that. freo have more than enough loose defenders (mundy, ibbotson, johnson, hayden, etc). id hazard a guess and say that if we pick up rich we will get one kpp in the second round. in this scenario that would be schoenmakers.

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explnations

O'Keefe WAY too low, I'd shoot someone if we overlook him for Jetta, plus I can't see us going two smalls considering Prismall was traded for and he is a small as well.

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explanations

Good effort.

Cornelius to low. And i think brisbane would take ziebell over yarran

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explanations

I'm not sure if you are doing a Top 50 without club needs or not, but one of Geelong's highest priorities are talls. There is no hope of Geelong finishing this draft without a tall.

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explanations

Johnston/Trengove, Brown and Rockliff
would be pretty happy with this

look forward to next weeks effort ;)

Re: Rough 3 Round DTM Mock - No Explanations

yeh very happy with shoenmakers at 26# but on draft day hell be gone at about pick 20ish i think. i would rather we go tall with pick 8, lets say we take mckernan and i would be happy.
