Well you most likely won't get anything.....you have no power in this situation. It's like St.Kilda and Luke Ball....we will offer X, you will want Y and he will enter the PSD.

Agree.

So we take him in PSD then, effectively shutting out all this talk of power crap.

Fremantle shouldn't make a competitor stronger just because thats his choice.

Even pick 43 is an insult but atleast we may find some talent with it. Blight would just be a token offering, but atleast kids at home.

43 and Blight.

Just read on your thread that Goldsack is worth better then pick 20 to the Pies.

HAHAHAHAHA.

Guy gets signed up, Bradburies a medal and is now worth a 1st rounder!

Just signed 2 years with us, so it makes no difference what people thinks he's worth.

St.Kilda people said the same thing last year, we'll just pick Ball up agin.

Doubt Freo would waste a pick on him.

Fraser Compo + Blight (Max).

You are delusional if you think Freo would redraft Tarrant.

You should be thinking from a club perspective.

Blight & a Compo is better than zero.

Don't be like the Saints....they learned the hard way! ;)

I am thinking from a clubs perspective.

We keep getting talent and then they want to go back home. So we have changed our recruiting style and not bothered getting these big headed arrogant ****s who want to go home after they play a few years with us.

Get WA talent or people like Barlow who realise the opportunity they have been given.

Dont be like the saints?

So bend over you reckon?

Thinking from the club's perspective. We can get Blight for pick 100-odd, as he is being delisted anyway. Only West Coast would possibly grab him before us if it's homesickness.

Effectively, it's compo pick for Tarrant - and therefore Fraser = Tarrant. Ah, no.

From the club's perspective, if we force him into the draft and he does end up at Collingwood, then that means you would have to use pick 43 or 61 on him. Later than that, and he will go to someone else. That's good for us, because it keeps you out of the draft.

From the club's perspective, I reckon we will have no problem sending him into the draft, forcing him to nominate a price more than what you would otherwise be wanting to pay him.

From your club's perspective, if you do actually want him then you'd be better off giving up pick 43 now, rather than take this risk of him not being there when you do finally enter the draft. Make no mistake, if he is in the draft, no matter what you might think, other clubs will be prepared to pick him.

If he goes into the draft, he will name a price. It will be heavily loaded in 2nd year becuase he will be on Pies veteran list.

If he is worth 200K a year, put price at 200 & 400. Go on any other club, draft him.

No one took Luke Ball. St Kilda don't look so smart for taking the moral high ground now. It's a pure dog in the manger tactic and it's pretty stupid. Had St Kilda done a trade last year they would have got pick 30 and Goldsack. Intstead they got nothing, Collingwood used pick 30 on Ball anyway, and kept Goldsack.

The biggest thing Freo have to get over is getting slightly below the odds. That's always going to happen when someone walks out and they're out of contract - it's not a perfect market situation. If they swallow their pride they'll do a trade so they can at least get the pick that Collingwood would use on him in the draft anyway.

Forgetting that your figures are way out of the ballpark, why wouldn't for instance Carlton pick him up for 2 years total of $1Mil? He can't name a price for each individual year, it's total term + total amount, ie 2 years for $1Mil. No matter how you work the figures, Carlton and Hawthorn would be able to squeeze him in.

They would pick him.

Pick 30 and Goldsack is bit more then what has been reported as offering us.

You will use pick 43 on him in draft, so just give us that.

Hope he gets ****ed over.

Then you can all swallow your pride.

Yet another fan who views footy through the prism of draft picks.

would have thought by definition any premiership player is worth a top 22 pick. A pick is a pick is a pick. Plenty of duds have got picked in the first round over the years. A proven premiership player is the preverbial bird in the hand. I'll take the bird in the hand.

Ummmmmmmmmm.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I hear Ash Hansen is looking for opportunities somewhere Pick 1-22 will get it done :thumbsu:

You got something in your hand alright, aint a bird.

That was single handedly the dumbest phrase i have ever read on BF, and you know there have been some crackers.

Any premiership player worth top 22.

Do you actually know anything about football or you from overseas?

Not official.

We might roll the dice, and if he names a price we might be the only ones in contention and get him with pick #73.

The fact that you're talking about 43 is an improvement, remembering Freo started with a demand of a premiership player. I just hope they had tongue in cheek with that one, but I doubt it.

Pick 30 and Goldsack is more than they're offereing now because they're different players. Some Collingwood supporters thought it was a little too much for Ball, but when you're desperate to get a player sometimes you pay above the odds in trade week. That's why we were shocked the Saints still said no - they clearly never intended on trading him.

Collingwood will not be swallowing any pride, why would they? They have the upper hand. They would like Tarrant, but they're not desperate for Tarrant. This is what peeves Freo the most I suspect.
